This position is part of the Financial Reporting team in Booking Holdings' Chief Accounting Officer organization. The Director-Environmental, Social, and Governance ("ESG") Controller will collaborate cross-functionally with various stakeholders and be significantly involved in initiatives to meet various global ESG regulatory reporting requirements. The Director will also lead the transformation of the Company's ESG reporting infrastructure to support ongoing mandatory and voluntary ESG reporting, including implementing and enhancing the related systems, processes, and internal controls in partnership with the Risk & Controls team. The position will interface with the corporate office and brand (business unit) personnel at various levels of the Company and with internal and external auditors. Primary responsibilities also include accounting/reporting research, drafting accounting/reporting policies and memos, providing technical support, and assisting in the preparation of filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and other regulators.
In this role you will get to: Serve as a subject matter expert on global ESG reporting matters within the Financial Reporting team and ensure that reporting is aligned to the requirements of various frameworks (including SEC, CSRD) and monitoring associated trends.
Partnering cross-functionally with various stakeholders driving strategic initiatives related to ESG at the Company to ensure alignment between disclosures and corporate strategy and initiatives.
Manage and provide support to the Company's subsidiaries in the implementation of new ESG reporting standards and related accounting/reporting policies, including coordination with external advisors.
Draft ESG disclosures and perform benchmarking to identify ESG reporting best practices and improvement opportunities.
Provide ESG accounting/reporting-related implementation support and training to members of the worldwide finance and accounting teams (and other relevant stakeholders).
Develop and update the ESG accounting/reporting policies manual to be used by members of the worldwide finance and accounting teams (and other relevant stakeholders).
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather and analyze data needed for ESG reporting, including consolidated Company-wide ESG reporting, verify reported information, summarize content and distribute the relevant reports.
Manage the ESG reporting platform and database and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to enhance efficiencies and enable automation in the collection, storage and validation of ESG data.
Prepare ESG reporting-related presentations and other documents for management, board of directors, investors, and other external stakeholders.
In partnership with the Risk & Controls team:
Establish, in collaboration with brands, a governance and control framework that complies with relevant ESG reporting standards and regulations, in order to ensure reporting integrity and assurance and comply with external assurance expectations
Implement and maintain, in collaboration with brands, ESG internal control program components, including understanding and mapping of processes, input assessment, data capture, identifying risks and controls, evaluating the processes for control readiness, executing the required changes, and communicating controls framework requirements and control best-practices
Coordinate with internal and external auditors in their review, oversight, and assurance of ESG reporting, including implementation of remediation actions.
Stay abreast of changes to relevant ESG reporting regulations, standards, and disclosure requirements, communicate information to relevant stakeholders, and implement required changes to accounting/reporting policies, practices, and processes.
Identify and implement continuous improvements to processes, controls, and systems used by the Financial Reporting team and the broader finance organization.
Collaborate with other stakeholders in the Company, especially the finance organization.
Partner and execute other finance-related projects and initiatives, as assigned from time to time.
What you have: 4-year college degree.
U.S. CPA license required.
Minimum of 12+ years of relevant experience, with a combination of Big 4 public accounting and public company industry experience.
Working knowledge of and prior experience with ESG and non-financial reporting and disclosure practices and assurance and the relevant regulations and standards, including SEC, CSRD, and other relevant frameworks (mandatory and voluntary).
Strong U.S. GAAP technical accounting and SEC reporting foundation and knowledge of SEC/PCAOB internal control SOX regulations, COSO, and IT Audit concepts.
Strong advisory/consultative skills with a service mindset and the ability to build key working relationships with teams at brands around the world.
Experience implementing accounting standards and special projects.
Experience in a fast-moving, high-growth environment providing strategic direction from a reporting and operational standpoint.
Ability to identify, escalate, and respond quickly to unexpected challenges and opportunities.
Strong writing, presentation, and communication skills and ability to easily explain complex accounting/reporting issues and conclusions to a variety of audiences.
Ability to effectively lead, inspire, and develop potential team members.
Proficient in systems/tools for data collection, analysis, and reporting and prior experience with ESG data management systems
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite

There are a variety of job related factors that go into determining a salary range, including but not limited to external market benchmark data, geographic location, and years of experience sought/required. In addition to a competitive base salary, roles are eligible to be considered for an annual bonus and equity grant.
The base salary range for Connecticut and the NYC-metro area is $180,900-$221,100.
