ControllerFull-time exempt position $85,000 - $105,000 DOQThe Controller will oversee the general ledger, accounts payable, payroll, and direct the accounting team.This position will work onsite at our corporate location in West St. Paul, MN and reports directly to the Director of Finance. Our organization provides a variety of person-centered services to individuals with developmental disabilities throughout the state of Minnesota.Key Responsibilities* Manage daily operations of accounting and payroll functions.* Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and related work papers to support monthly, and annual financial close timelines and audits.* Assist in and manage the implementation of proper accounting methods, policies, and principles.* Coordinate and main contributor to annual audit preparation.* Implement, maintain, and review, payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.* Responsible for post payroll processing including creating and entering journal entries for payroll expenses.* Maintain fixed asset system for accounting, processing, and reporting of the assets.* Reconcile asset and liability balance sheet account, resolving any outstanding discrepancies.* Assist with creating monthly financial reports.* As a working manager, is the backup to all accounting staff.* Support the Director of Finance in additional cost analysis and reporting as needed.Required Education and Experience* Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or business administration with strong business acumen is required. CPA or MBA preferred.* Knowledge of accounting and payroll principles, practices, and systems.* Minimum 5-7 years of experience in a financial management role with 3+ years of supervisory experience.* Ultipro (UKG) payroll experience a plus.* Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with other accounting software.* Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP* Excellent verbal and written communication abilitiesDesired Skills* An ability to focus on tactical and operational issues using strong analytics and datasets.* Must be versatile and flexible to deal with a wide variety of issues, situations, and people.* Strategic thinker who is detail oriented, attentive to internal and external deadlines and manage his/her time well* Self-directed/starting - a capacity to independently recognize issues and opportunities and work collaboratively to address them.* Must have a high degree of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.Full-Time Benefits:* Medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance* Health Savings Account, Flexible Spending Account, and Dependent Care Account* 401(k) and Profit Sharing* Tuition, licensure, and certification reimbursement* Paid holidays* Paid time off* Floating holiday to be used when you need itThomas Allen, Inc. is a social services agency that provides a variety of person-centered services to individuals with disabilities throughout the state of Minnesota.
