About the Role
The Company is seeking a CBO/Plans Examiner to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for plan and specification review, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and ordinances for single and multifamily residential and minor commercial construction. This role involves approving all plan reviews and inspections, preparing valuations and fees for permit applications, and providing consultation to contractors, engineers, architects, and the general public. The CBO/Plans Examiner will also assist with building inspector duties as needed, train and manage the workload of subordinate positions, and participate in the development of departmental goals and objectives.Applicants for this position should have a Bachelor's degree in architecture, civil or structural engineering, construction management, or a related field, with a preference for the degree. A Certified Building Official (CBO) Certification and ICC Certification as a building inspector and/or plans examiner are essential. The role requires a thorough knowledge of building codes, regulations, and operating procedures, as well as supervisory practices. The ability to read and interpret complex construction designs, apply relevant laws and codes, and communicate effectively with various stakeholders is also necessary. The CBO/Plans Examiner will be expected to maintain high standards, demonstrate influence, and show a commitment to the organization's mission.
