And that's where you come in: Instructure is looking for a qualified Analytics Engineer to join our Enterprise Systems team. Analytics Engineers sit at the intersection of business teams, Data Analytics and Data Engineering and are responsible for bringing robust, efficient, and integrated data models and products to life. Analytics Engineers speak the language of business teams and technical teams, able to translate data insights and analysis needs into models powered by our Enterprise Systems. The successful Analytics Engineer is able to blend business acumen with technical expertise and transition between business strategy and data development.What you will be doing:Utilize knowledge of data engineering concepts such as ELT and scripting languages to maintain and / or improve existing data processesBuild robust EL data processes to gather data from various external data sources and store the data in an internal data warehouse or move data between systemsCollaborate with team members to collect business requirements, define successful analytics outcomes, and design data modelsDesign, develop, and extend dbt code to extend the Enterprise Dimensional ModelCraft code that meets our internal standards for style, maintainability, and best practices (such as the SQL Style Guide) for a high-scale database environment. Maintain and advocate for these standards through code review.Approve data model changes as a Data Team Reviewer and code owner for specific database and data model schemasProvide data modeling expertise to Instructure teams through code reviews, pairing, and training to help deliver optimal, DRY, and scalable database designs and queries in Snowflake.What you will need to know/have:BS in a technical degree field such as CS, IS, Math, Statistics, or FinancePositive and solution-oriented mindsetSelf-motivated and self-managing, with task organizational skills3+ years in the Data space as an analyst, engineer, or equivalent3+ years experience designing, implementing, operating, and extending commercial Kimball enterprise dimensional modelsExperience with dbt, AWS, Python, Spark, and Databricks preferredExperienced in setting up job alerts to address failures, inaccuracies, etc.Demonstrated capacity to clearly and concisely communicate complex business activities, technical requirements, and recommendationsDemonstrated experience with one or more of the following business subject areas: marketing, finance, sales, product, customer success, customer support, engineering, or peopleAble to effectively analyze, review, diagnose, document, and quality check resultsGen in on all the awesome at Instructure:A fun, friendly, and helpful company cultureCompetitive compensationRestricted Stock Unit ProgramPrivate Medicover healthcare + cafeteria plan/SZEP cardEmployee Stock Purchase ProgramWellness motivation through PandaFitAn extra week off for the whole company every yearEmployee recognition program through MotivosityGoal-setting, proactive reviews, and internal trainingEmployee assistance programWe've always believed in hiring the most awesome people and treating them right.
