This vacancy is located at SCLHSA's Administration Office located in Houma, LA. This position is in the SCLHSA Billing Department and the financial sustainability of SCLHSA. This position will report directly to the Business Analytics Specialist. NOTE REGARDING ADVERTISED PAY: The actual starting salary depends on the education and experience of the selected applicant. Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Three years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, payroll, or numerical computation.
College training will substitute for the required experience on the basis of thirty semester hours for one year of experience.
An Associate Degree in Accounting, Accounting Technology, or Business from an accredited college or university will substitute for two years of the required experience.
Training in a vocational-technical school or military school in Accounting, Accounting Technology, or Business will substitute for up to one year of required experience on the basis of one month of training for one month of experience.
NOTE: Any college hours or degree must be from an accredited college or university.

Differs from Accounting Specialist 2 by responsibility for preparation of basic-level financial reports.
Differs from professional accountants by assisting accounting professionals in the performance of various tasks within the accounting process.
Examples of Work 35% Performs the functions of preparing eligible Medicaid, Medicare and/or third parting insurance claims for submission to appropriate payor sources. This includes preparation and review of reports for missing data elements and collaborates with clinics for appropriate corrections, submit complete claims to appropriate payor sources, reviews denied claims to determine appropriate corrective action and collaborates with clinics for correction, follows-up with clinic location/professional on outstanding account receivables.
30% Retrieves the payment documents (remittance advices, explanation of benefits, etc.) from the various payor sources and reviews the automatic posting for accuracy. Posts payments/adjustments to appropriate account receivables for those payor sources that do not automatically post and run reports to review for accuracy.
20% Prepares and submits applications for credentialing providers with Medicaid, Medicare and/or third party insurance. Completes roster updates and contract amendments as required by insurances.
10% Prepares the Claims Write-Off Adjustments for the Executive Director to review billing adjustments as approved to the appropriate account receivable. Prepares other reports as requested by Business Analytics Specialist, Account Administrator, and/or other Division Directors as needed.
5% Performs other duties as assigned.
