JOB DESCRIPTION:

Scope: The Vice President, Ambulatory Operations (VPAO) has strategic and executive responsibilities for over 90 primary and specialty care practices across 50 locations, including the Regional Maternal Child Health Program, and physician:based clinic locations throughout the region.

Function: The VPAO reports to the Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer (EVP/CEO) of the UTMB Health System and is responsible for providing leadership and oversight for designated operational and management activities in the following areas within the Health System: operations, budget planning and management, strategic planning, project management, facility interfaces, as well as internal and external communications. The VPAO assumes a key leadership role in patient care delivery system development and operations across the clinical enterprise, collaborating effectively with physicians and other members of the health care team. The position provides leadership and focus to assigned departments and staff leaders and aligns them with the strategic goals of the health system as well as the approved business plans.

Salary Range

Salary is commensurate with experience.

Specific Job Related Duties

The VPAO for the UTMB Health System is directly responsible for the leadership and administration of ambulatory care and the functional integration of the outpatient clinics into the UTMB Health System.
Assumes a key leadership role in patient care delivery system development and operations across clinical enterprise, collaborating effectively with physicians and other members of the health care team. Responsible for operational and management activities in the following areas within the Health System: operations, budget planning and management, strategic planning, project management, facility interfaces, as well as internal and external communications. Recommends, develops and implements new programmatic initiatives for ambulatory care services. Ensures the functional integration of ambulatory care services with the UTMB Health System operations to assure a seamless patient experience across the continuum of care. Ensures that patient services are of optimal value by continually improving quality, patient experience, and cost effectiveness. Collaborates with physicians in developing UTMB ambulatory clinics and services to become the provider of choice in the region. Continually evaluates potential programs and services to meet community need and to respond to physician and health system desire to provide a full spectrum of services to the communities we serve. Creates programs that enhance patient safety and patient engagement. Ensures that the ambulatory operation meets regulatory requirements, such as The Joint Commission, Magnet standards, etc. Discharges these responsibilities consistent with the mission statement goals and objectives of The University of Texas Medical Branch.
Preferred Skill/Competency

Preferred Qualifications:
