Position Summary: The Virtual Patient Safety Tech provides direct visual surveillance for patients under the supervision of nursing staff. Ensures the health, comfort and safety of patients.
Proficiency in utilizing and adherence to policy for the TeleSitter Video Monitoring Continuous Visual Monitoring to ensure patients are cared for appropriately.
Ability to activate and disable the Audio Privacy, Stat Alert Alarm, and Verbal Alert.
Ability to speak professionally and compassionately to the patient through the microphone.
Ability to maximize the individual room view, and select a new layout in the View.
At the beginning of each shift or with any change of VMT staff, introduce self by name to the patient through the microphone (i.e., "Good day. My name is _(First Name Only)_. I will be helping you stay safe today by reminding you to ___.")
Demonstrate how to appropriately document: 1. Content, including but not limited to patient's activity, response, etc. 2. Explain process for documentation. 3. i.e., electronic or paper, is documentation saved? Where does documentation go after patient discharge?
Use SBAR format to transition patient care from one MT to another, including but not limited to: 1. Reason for patient receiving visual monitoring. 2. Any specific occurrences during te shift. 3. Any specific interventions that agitate patient or enhance patient safety.
Locate owner's manual, quick reference guide, and Nursing Policy and state actions to take, including who to call and how to call in case of equipment failure or maintenance needs, when audio lost.
Discuss and practice communication techniques to enhance patient, unit staff, and caregiver collaboration and support, which may include utilizing the Foreign Language Feature.
Performs other related functions as assigned.
Position Qualifications:Education:Ability to read, write and understand written and oral instructions.
High School graduate or GED preferred.
Experience:2 years of recent TeleMonitoring and/or acute patient care experience required.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:Demonstrated skills in organization, verbal and written communications, customer service, math, analysis, reading, following instruction, basic computer usage.
Licensure/Certification:Current CNA in State of Florida
Current BLS through American Heart Association
