Technical Development Principal Scientist

The PositionThe Analytical Development organization specializes in process-related impurities, high throughput analytical testing, and data management to support process development and validation activities.
We have an exciting opportunity for a talented scientist and NMR expert to join our team.
The OpportunityThis role focuses on evaluating protein-based drug samples for leachables and impurities using quantitative nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR).
The candidate will use various NMR methods to perform process validation, analyze development samples, quantify solution components, and demonstrate raw material stability and comparability.
Expertise in applying advanced NMR techniques and developing custom pulse sequences to resolve trace impurities is essential.
The role may also involve research in other NMR applications, such as real-time release testing, low-field/TD NMR, and protein fingerprinting.
Responsibilities include collaborating with stakeholders to develop protocols, analyze data, write reports, contribute to lab maintenance, and perform safety inspections.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects are required, along with excellent documentation and communication skills.
Key Job FunctionsPlan and execute testing of protein-based drug samples for impurities.Create customized NMR parameters and pulse sequences.Provide SME knowledge in quantitative NMR.Develop benchtop NMR methods and real-time release testing with stakeholders.Design NMR-based studies in collaboration with other teams.Leverage LC-MS, GC-MS, and ICP-MS data as needed.Troubleshoot instruments and methods.Author protocols and reports.Contribute to laboratory maintenance.Who You ArePh.D.
in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field, or equivalent experience with a Bachelor's/Master's degree and at least 2 years of relevant experience.
Must have advanced knowledge of NMR methods, instrumentation, pulse sequence development, and data analysis.
Good understanding of analytical methods and strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills are required.

The salary range for South San Francisco, CA is $120,800 to $224,300, with actual pay based on experience and qualifications.
A discretionary bonus may be offered, along with comprehensive benefits.
