Indiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired (ISBVI)

The Indiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired educates and invests in many children that, due to blindness or low vision and addition handicapping conditions, other schools cannot or have difficulty serving. Through its outreach initiates, ISBVI provides services to children and young adults throughout the state who are blind or have low vision who are not enrolled at the School.

About the Job: 13;

The Substitute Teacher at the Indiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired performs professional teaching of academic and/or vocational physical education subjects at the pre:school, elementary or secondary level.

A Day in the Life: 13;

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

:

Prepares daily and weekly lesson plans.
:

Assigns and corrects homework and classroom exercises.
:

Utilizes a variety of special instructional equipment.
:

Evaluates performance and progress of students.
:

Counsels students on academic, personal and/or behavioral problems.
:

Administers reading and achievement tests to students.
:

Confers with parents and members of staff on behavior and/or personal problems and school progress of students.
:

Organizes social activities and field trips on occasion.
:

Participates in faculty and professional meetings, education conferences and workshops.

What Were Looking For: 13;

At least two years of college course work.

What Youll Need for Success: 13;

Working knowledge of school administrative guidelines and policies.

Ability to evaluate the performance, skills and progress of a student.
:

Ability to include expressive and receptive skills in manual communication.
:

Specialized and current knowledge of the subject matter to be taught and the techniques used in area of specialization.
:

Specialized knowledge of modern teaching practices and principles utilized in educating students.
:

Specialized knowledge of equipment that may be utilize as teaching aids.
:

Basic knowledge of audiology, oral rehabilitation and speech pathology.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports: 13;

This role does not provide direct supervision to direct reports.
