Job Summary:

The State Attorneys Office (SAO) for the Fourth Judicial Circuit of Florida is responsible for the prosecution of all crimes committed in Duval, Clay and Nassau counties and seeks applications for the position of Community Crime Strategies Coordinator. In a traditional prosecution program, the role of a prosecutor is narrowly focused: assistant state attorneys receive case referrals, file criminal cases, and seek convictions. In a Community Prosecution model, however, prosecutors step outside of the traditional role to engage as problem:solvers in the community. Prosecutors work directly in neighborhoods, develop relationships with local groups, align enforcement priorities with residents public safety concerns, and seek solutions to prevent crime.

The SAO began implementing its Community Prosecution model in 2019. The SAO seeks a Community Crime Strategies Coordinator to contribute to the formulation of community action strategies and create proactive problem:solving approaches to prosecution. The Coordinator will work closely with the SAOs Lead Community Prosecutor and assist in coordinating the activities of fifteen to twenty Assistant State Attorneys currently working with local Citizen Planning Advisory Committees and JSO Sheriffs Advisory groups. The Coordinator will work closely with stakeholders and law enforcement in neighborhoods, develop relationships with local community leaders, align enforcement priorities with residents public safety concerns, and seek solutions to combat violent crime:as well as less serious crimes:before they escalate into violence.

Position Requirements:

:
Graduation from an accredited four: year college and one year experience in related work OR Graduation from a professional school of law accredited by the American Bar Association OR Related work experience in the Criminal Justice System may be substituted on a year:for:year basis for the required college degree and required work experience
