Maverick Gaming is dedicated to creating the best possible gaming experiences for every kind of player and currently owns and operates a portfolio of 27 properties across Nevada, Washington and Colorado with a total of 1800 slot machines, 350 table games, 1020 hotel rooms and 30 restaurants.

The Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting in our day-to-day General Ledger accounting processes and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), experienced in Business Central / Business Dynamics accounting software and proficient in excel. Candidate must be a team player with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.

How You'll Succeed
In this role you will:

Work with the existing team to continue to enhance the close and reporting processes to ensure timely and accurate accounting and monthly reporting.
Assist with preparation of the financials for the respective locations.
Assist with the preparation of the Revenue Analysis Worksheets.
Assist in the preparation of monthly cash reconciliations.
Involved in the preparation of the Monthly Excise tax returns.
Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures; maintain necessary supporting documentation related to journal entries and reconciliations.
Correspond with various departments to compile financial data for monthly reporting, as needed.
Research and respond to all general ledger inquiries in a timely manner.
Assist in the preparation of the annual Financial Statements.
Assist with any regulatory reporting.
Be cognizant of internal controls and proactively advance ideas to enhance the control environment.
Manage and participate in ad hoc projects, as requested.
Perform other job duties as assigned.

Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should have previous Accounting experience and knowledge that includes:

Associate degree in Business, Accounting or related field and/or (3) three years' experience in accounting inn a multi-company environment; or an equivalent amount of education and experience.
Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Knowledge of accounting principles and practices in order to be an effective resource for others.
Knowledge of local, state and federal laws and regulations.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of classified information.
Perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy.
Planning/organizing-the individual prioritizes and plans work activities, uses time efficiently and develops realistic action plans.
Knowledge of general ledger posting process and experience preparing and posting journal entries.
Problem solving-the individual identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner and gathers and analyzes information skillfully.
Excellent organizational and time management skills required.
Ability to multi-task under tight timelines.
Quality management-the individual looks for ways to improve and promote quality and demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness.
Self-starter who can take initiative and follow through on projects and tasks.
Judgment-the individual displays willingness to make decisions, exhibits sound and accurate judgment and makes timely decisions.
Reliability with working hours and duties.
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with staff and management.
Ability to understand and comply with all departmental and company rules and regulations, policies and procedures.
