Workplace Experience is seeking a Senior Manager of Heritage & Archives to be based out of our New York, NY or San Francisco, CA headquarters.
As the Sr.
Manager of Heritage & Archives you will be responsible for overseeing a team that manages, preserves, and partners with Gap Inc. brands for the company's historical paper, objects, and product archives.
This role involves developing and implementing archival policies, operational flow and safety.
You will lead the story and narrative of our archives and establish processes so we can unlock the potential of what we have stored for brands to access.
What You'll DoArchival Safety: Ensure best practices are in place for the protection of our collection.
From storage to insurance.Develop an operation process with SLAs to manage demand and team bandwidthCreate and execute a strategy to digitize and operationalize our archives.
From team to location needs.Build and implement a storyteller programConduct ongoing research to document the company's history and heritage and provide support for executive level and VIP internal and external inquiries.Establish a process and execution for exhibitions, events, displays, and other initiatives to promote the company's heritage – internally and externallyServe as a partner and advisor with the brands and Gap Inc services (such as legal) to maintain inventory levels, ensure proper handling of archives, and meet design demandForecast and manage the budget for archival projects and initiatives.Ensure we have a "complete" collection across all 4 brandsWho You AreBachelor's degree in history, Library Science, Archival Studies, or a related field.
A Master's degree is preferred.Experience product archivesMinimum of 7-10 years of experience in archival management, preferably in a corporate or retail environment.Leading and mentoring a small teamPresenting to high-level stakeholdersBuilding process, operations, SLAs, and digital documentation & catalogingStrong vendor network to activate or leverage as neededMasterful storyteller that can blend history and entertainmentCreative eye for building storylines, visual narratives/timelines, and displaysAbility to build narratives and strategy for archival departments, including company facing documentation and connectionStrong organizational and project management skillsExcellent research and analytical abilities.Proficiency in archival software and digital asset management systems.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Curiosity for history and heritage preservation.Passion for the Gap Inc history & knowledge of our house of brandsAttention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.Creative and innovative thinking.
