Senior
Environmental, Health, & Safety (EHS) Leader.
Position Overview:
You will serve as the leader of the Milwaukee Environmental, Health, & Safety (EHS) team Improve upon existing safety systems (world class) as well as establish new programs to further the emphasis on safety.
Core Accountabilities:
Provide EHS leadership and support on all aspects of EHS strategic and tactical deployment at Milwaukee operations (1000+ employees across manufacturing (heavy/industrial) and logistics/distribution locations).
Ensure that workplace conditions comply with all applicable federal and state occupational safety and health standards and provisions of any contractual agreement, ensuring that all required records are prepared and maintained
Work as part of a global team of EHS leaders to develop globally standardized programs, policies and procedures, tailored to each regulatory framework
Provide effective leadership and direction to the EHS teams, increasing the level of capability and results
Identify action based EHS goals for site leadership team members, functional managers & front-line leaders to help achieve the site's EHS targets/objectives
Manage completion of site & workstation-level risk assessments to identify/prioritize EHS aspects/hazards. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations in areas of EHS. Maintain/Build effective working relationships with all internal/external stakeholders including regulatory bodies, customers & industry partners
Oversee all investigations into incidents to ensure root cause is understood, corrective actions in place & all steps taken to ensure there is no repetition
Requirements and Desired Qualifications:
Bachelors of Science Degree in Industrial or Occupational Safety, or equivalent
Minimum of 10 years of EHS Leadership within the manufacturing sector (industrial, construction, and/or heavy manufacturing) Union experience is required.
Demonstrated ability to develop and deploy strategy which aligns with overall business objectives and priorities
An acute understanding of EHS regulatory standards, interpretations and directives including OSHA, EPA, DOT
Demonstrated experience in creating a safety culture based on leadership, accountability and a systematic approach to continuous improvement of EH&S outcomes
Experience in managing on-site security and security contractors
Communication - Demonstrated high level of communication which allow for effective engagement of senior leaders, operational leaders, employees and external stakeholders. Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills
Ability to effectively manage EHS continuous improvement in unionized work environment
Driving Change - Must possess the inherent skills to drive change, must be strategic yet tactical, and creative yet fundamental, and able to work in a difficult and timely situations as well
Priority/Goal Setting: Ability to contribute to the global strategic plan and ensure it is deployed at a tactical shop floor level
Certification as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygiene or related certification would be valued, but not required
