What Youll Do

The Senior Director, Research and Development serves as the leader of product design, engineering developing and sourcing team to produce world:class products, specifically tennis hardware, which meet or exceed company and category expectations with regard to brand integrity, design, product innovation and return on investment, contribute to the research and implementation of new engineering designs in order to aid design and advance the innovation across the entire ABG portfolio of brands.

What youll be working on

Product Design

Lead design teams (internal and external) to develop innovative and breakthrough solutions to design challenges with constraints on costs, quality and performance.

Lead and oversee design and refresh protocols seasonally and annually; make recommendations about design enhancements that further competitive advantage of products in the marketplace.

Lead with planning and delivery of product designs which meet specified performance and cost criteria within development budget and timetable.

Product Development

Lead in managing specific category plans including collection size, styles colors and transition plans.

Maintains the daily development activities with respect to their assigned projects to achieve seasonal category results from conception through completion of approved confirmation standards and buy readiness.

Maintains and manages the daily activities for all assigned projects. Communicates necessary details to teams in USA, EMEA and Asia in order to reach key dates and objectives.

Product Sourcing

Oversees all vendor management and supply chain activities.

Manages product costing.

Manage quality control of prototype preparation and manufacturing of products; work with factories to correct deficiencies and assure end product meets specifications for performance and safety.

May require domestic and international travel normal to the occupation up to 5 of the time, dependent upon customer requirements and business needs.

Must Haves:

Bachelors degree (foreign equivalent accepted) in Mechanical Engineering, Sports Engineering, or a related field plus seven years of progressively responsible experience.

Seven years of experience with product design and engineering in sporting goods with an emphasis on tennis hardware.

Seven years of experience with 3D product design software.

Strong communication skills (written and verbal).

Detail oriented with high level or organization.

Ability to travel internationally to China, Africa, and India, as necessary, to meet with vendors and factories.
