The Sr. Director, Production Engineering has leadership accountability all production engineering resources across enterprise and leverages all resources to maximize enterprise value. The focus is optimization of chemical assets and aligning resources and effort to highest value opportunities. He/she drives continuous improvement and productivity through practical innovations. Ensures alignment and open communication channels with Site Directors and that engineers execute capital projects to the best benefit of Ascend.
He/she must exhibit Ascends leadership behaviors and communication skills to create alignment across global enterprise, with customers, communities, employees and other Ascend partners. Position has a wide degree of latitude to use independent judgment in all accountable areas with frequent communication to executive leadership. The ability to communicate effectively and motivate by positive intervention for enhanced safety and operational performance is critical. Additionally, he/she will have significant reasoning capability, business experience and the ability sound logic and judgment to problem solving. He/she must demonstrate understanding and practical execution of Ascend to Entitlement (A2E) concepts and provide leadership in reinforcing these principles across the site.
TARGETED OUTCOMES (top 3:4 objectives for first 12:18 months)
Prioritization of Production Engineering Business opportunities across the enterprise with the subsequent development of talent and staffing levels determined.
Development of work process to facilitate Production and Manufacturing Engineers executing capital projects as appropriate. Potential opportunity exist 30:50 of capital executed is performed by these two groups.
Development of a mentoring program for Production Engineers and a roadmap for new engineers entering Ascend. This will require coordination with Project and Process Engineering plus the Site Directors.
Development of a Continuous Improvement Backlog with identified financial/sustainability objectives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide leadership to ensure employees have the resources and direction to safely and efficiently operate
Establish clear objectives for each site in partnership with Site Directors and Production Engineering, communicate them to the leaders/employees and provide opportunities for continuous dialogue and feedback on performance and development.
Direct accountability for employees, including development roles/responsibilities/expectations, performance reviews and compensation evaluations for each individual employee.
Encourage team:work to drive department performance and maintain a respective and highly engaged work place.
Provide leadership and coaching to leaders and employees through a shared vision for the corporation.
Develops an understanding of the current states, the desired future state, develops and executes plans and strategies to close the gaps.
Communicate overall direction and corporate Production Engineering initiatives using effective communication tools and practices.
Continuously improve productivity, reduce waste and energy, and utilize Lean Manufacturing concepts and processes across the organization.
Deliver AOP commitments and coordinate AOP changes, impact and mitigating solutions to site and executive leadership.
Supply support to meet manufacturing and quality targets, achieve targeted OEE metrics, drive quality performance throughout the manufacturing units to reach all metrics.
Achieve right cost targets through continuous improvement activities (A2E), yield, productivity, waste and energy reduction, usage improvements and conversion cost reductions
Ensure Site Production Engineering leaders have knowledge of the cost drivers for the site and are accountable for meeting budgeted and forecasted targets.
Participate in resource planning, recruiting and champions employee development programs; identify and evaluate potential staff to exec
