Senior BI Architect - INF001498
The Senior BI Architect is a high-level role responsible for configuration, administration, maintenance, and support of UScellular's Enterprise Business Intelligence implementations in a 24x7 production environment. Additionally, this position plays a role in providing strategic thought leadership regarding BI long-range planning, partnering with key business teams to develop BI platforms that enable the business to make critical decisions in support of providing UScellular customers the best possible experience. Additionally, this role helps establish BI standard methodologies, and seeks to implement them on the team, including those related to Analytics capabilities, system stability, availability, and performance. This position also provides leadership to the team as appropriate.
Essential Functions
Provide architectural and strategic thought leadership on advanced creative solutions using BI Platforms for greater business value & reduced costs
Plan and Lead BI environment growth projects through continuous improvement and standard methodologies
Partner with other IS teams in architecting successful BI/DW solutions.
Provides leadership in collaborating with business teams on matters relating to data, security, data models, etc.
Leads strategic design and development of BI Semantic Layers (Cognos Packages/Models), BI system performance monitoring, and statistical reporting
Provide operational administrative support of BI environment
Provide leadership in requirement gathering, resolving ambiguity and disagreement, while ensuring accuracy.
Lead change control for BI environments
Develops BI test strategies as needed
Performs BI Platform impact analysis due to architectural and environmental changes
Communicate functionally in verbal and written English.
Demonstrate ability to work constructively with executive levels as well as in team environments
Communicate status / risks to manager regarding delivering solution on time
Assumes "leadership" role of challenges, finds solutions, drives to success
Support cross technology initiatives
Provides mentor/training to junior members of team as appropriate
Develop positive relationships with business and IS partner leadership
Participates in on-call schedule; off-hours support as required.
Required Experience
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering or related field or equivalent work experience required.
Sr BI Architect: 10+ years relevant work experience required.
Experience with BI Administration required
Experience with BI Report & Dashboard development required
Experience understanding performance and tuning impacts required
Experience installing/upgrading BI applications, including understanding hardware impacts required
Experience in BI Strategy and implementing successful BI architectural changes required
Experience with of application performance factors, monitoring tools and tuning procedures required
Experience with change management related to BI objects and platforms required
Experience with Oracle, SQLServer, Essbase, Hadoop (and other big data solution providers) preferred
Development experience working with SAS, Cognos, Hyperion, Unica, or others preferred
Specific experience with installing/upgrading, configuring, tuning and maintaining SAS, Cognos, Hyperion, or Unica preferred
Experience Building Symantec Layers in BI Applications such as Cognos Package Models, Reports, Cubes, Dashboards (or in SAS, Hyperion, Unica) preferred
Knowledge of Oracle SQL development techniques, including PL/SQL preferred
O/S & Network: IBM AIX, Sun Solaris, HP/UX preferred.
Agile Experience preferred
