Goodreads is seeking a highly motivated and strategic Senior Ads Sales Account Executive (AE) to expand our advertising business across both publishing and non-publishing verticals, including entertainment and streaming companies.
This role will focus on developing long-term, senior-level client relationships, driving innovative ad solutions, and proactively identifying opportunities to accelerate revenue growth.
The ideal candidate is a consultative seller, a thought leader both internally and externally, and an entrepreneurial problem solver with the ability to navigate complex client needs and deliver impactful results.
Key job responsibilities
* Proactively identify and secure new high-value accounts, developing long-term relationships with senior stakeholders (e.g., CMOs, SVPs) and positioning Goodreads as a trusted strategic partner.
Create and execute comprehensive account plans that align with client objectives, demonstrating the value of Goodreads' advertising products and driving measurable outcomes.
* Achieve revenue goals independently by prioritizing strategic initiatives, leveraging an entrepreneurial mindset to develop tailored, simplified solutions for complex and undefined customer challenges.
Manage trade-offs between client needs and internal resources to secure sustainable, long-term partnerships.
* Develop and deliver innovative advertising solutions, including programmatic ad strategies, mobile-first offerings, sponsored social campaigns, and native video formats.
Work closely with cross-functional teams—including product, marketing, and engineering—to pilot new solutions, collect actionable feedback, and scale successful initiatives.
* Drive operational efficiency by owning key business documentation (QBRs, MBRs, and strategic plans) and contributing to broader business planning.
Streamline and scale sales processes to enhance execution, improve scalability, and drive operational excellence across teams and regions.
* Track and optimize campaign performance using key metrics such as revenue per impression (RPOM), WTR-to-Read conversions, and ROI.
Deliver data-driven recommendations to clients and internal stakeholders, ensuring campaigns achieve maximum value and measurable impact.
* Act as an external and internal thought leader, representing Goodreads at client meetings, industry conferences, and internal forums.
Share insights, trends, and success stories that position Goodreads as an innovative leader in book discovery and content engagement.
* Collaborate closely with marketing and product teams to develop account-specific strategies and narratives that align with market needs and drive account growth.
Utilize customer input to inform product development and innovation, improving processes, policies, and offerings for seamless campaign execution.
* Provide strategic guidance to senior leaders within Goodreads and Amazon, advising on overall business strategies that maximize client impact, revenue growth, and organizational efficiency.
* Share best practices, insights, and strategies with internal teams to enhance sales execution, foster collaboration, and optimize client engagement.

Basic Qualifications:* 7+ years of experience in digital media sales, with proven success in building senior-level client relationships and achieving revenue targets.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets.
The base pay for this position ranges from $121,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $201,200/year in our highest geographic market.
Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
