The Department of Surgery within the College of Medicine at the University of Cincinnati is seeking a Research Associate for the following:

Essential Function: Applies professional knowledge, skills, and training to help conduct experimental research work at a high level of competency to study the role of ion channels and lipids in cancer biology and we are looking for a highly motivated, independently working technician.

Primary Duties:

* Assist with the coordination of laboratory projects or research studies in a particular discipline;

* Make independent contributions to projects and studies based on professional training or functional experience;

* Solve problems using combined research knowledge;

* Independently work on whole projects/problems;

* Decide how to solve problem and relies on own resources to resolve it;

* Contribute effectively to the collective team effort;

* Analyses research results

* Organize data search and analysis procedures;

* Assist in establishing test controls, criteria and research standards;

* Assist in the design of complex data processing systems to analyze research data;

* Accomplish assigned results for project/studies, or for significant aspects of larger, complex assignments;

* Serve as a seasoned level researcher.

Must be proficient in the following routine laboratory techniques:

1. Western blot

2. Elisa

3. Cell Culture

4. Various in vitro techniques

5. Protein assay

6. Microscopy

7. IHC/IF

8. Flow cytometry

Minimum Requirements: Bachelors degree in a profession/field or equivalent level of knowledge.
