Specific Job Related Duties

JOB SUMMARY:

This position will involve helping set up a new molecular biology lab on campus, and a variety of non:routine research assignments and experiments. Research techniques in the lab are centered on functional genomics assays using induced pluripotent stem cells as a model system.

MAJOR DUTIES/CRITICAL TASKS:
Plan, coordinate and direct moderately complex research experiments following general technical procedures. Establish and oversee quality control measures for assigned project operations. Make modifications to research procedures as determined by the Principal Investigator. Contribute to scientific analysis and interpretation of projects. Maintain records of all tests performed and data collected, compile and tabulate data, provide analysis of results. Confer with lab staff regarding results obtained and receive suggestions for modification to procedures and interpretation of final data. Ensure the accurate assembly, calibration, operation and modification of a variety of laboratory equipment as defined by appropriate guidelines. Make minor modifications and repairs to equipment as necessary. Independently perform literature searches as outlined by the Principal Investigator. Oversee lab inventory of supplies and equipment. May provide guidance to junior research staff. Adhere to internal controls established for department. Perform related duties as required.
