SPECIFIC LAB INFORMATION:

Postdoctoral fellow positions are available at The Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) Research Institute, an interdisciplinary institution dedicated to conducting basic, clinical and translational research on conditions and diseases that affect children.

Dr. Camire and Georges laboratories are interested in understanding the components of the blood coagulation system, how they interface with activated cells, and how disturbances in their function lead to bleeding and thrombosis. We are also interested in translating basic biochemistry and molecular biology to develop therapeutic approaches to mitigate these events which are major causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Specifically, interests include new therapies for hemophilia (ex: adeno:associated virus gene therapy or protein based therapeutics) and understanding the mechanism of inhibitor formation in hemophilia.

A variety of enzymatic, biochemical, and molecular biological techniques are used in the laboratory in order to carry out our specific goals. For example, the following techniques are routinely preformed in the laboratory: modern molecular methods (site:directed mutagenesis, cloning, etc.), tissue culture (including induced pluripotent stem cells), protein purification, HPLC, FPLC, SDS:PAGE, ELISA, enzymatic kinetic assays, fluorescence spectroscopy, fluorescence anisotropy measurements, etc. Experience with murine models is also desirable.
