eBay is looking for a highly motivated and hardworking Qualitative Data Analyst to join the eBay’s Risk Investigations Team. As a Qualitative Data Analyst you will be collaborating with ad-hoc teams of experts to capture, reconcile and distill complex and sometimes conflicting data into powerful yet simple stories and visualizations for distribution to internal and external audiences.
Members of the Risk Investigation Team are selected for their deep domain expertise and diverse talents which allows them to capture and work with data from disparate sources and see the world from multiple perspectives. A successful member of the team should be able to shift perspectives between that of an honest seller and buyer on eBay to that of a member of a cross-border crime syndicate. Qualitative Analysts on the team are able to do ground-up analysis that challenge existing assumptions and thought patterns to create positive organizational change.

In this role, you will
Collaborate with leadership team and peers to identify promising areas of investigation
Develop research proposals
Identify research project goals
Develop research methodology
Identify required resources, timelines and costs
Identify and get approval from executive sponsor
Conduct investigations either alone or as a lead or collaborating with SWAT/Tiger teams
Document results of investigations with compelling data and visualization that tells the story and will drive positive organization change
Be on the lookout for quick wins and disseminate ancillary insights of from investigations to operational and business rules teams to drive tactical changes
Perform root cause analysis attribution of larger risk related trends in critical metrics
Perform gap analysis of various risk processes between current and desired outcome
Develop a deep understanding of risk tools and processes
Put aside personal biases and always act as a trusted advisers.
Who You Are
5+ years of relevant domain expertise
Superb communication skills, specifically written and verbal communication
Excellent inter-personal skills including the ability to lead and collaborate with ad-hoc teams
Strong data analytics and data validation skills and proficiency in business data analysis (MS Excel, etc.)
Strong capabilities in communicating through compelling stories and visualizations
SQL skills for basic and advanced data analysis
Critical thinker with intuitive understanding of complex systems
