Diagnoses disorders, including nature and extent, determines the appropriate course of treatment, and discusses these treatment plans with the patient and/or the responsible adults.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Provides emergency "on-call" services to resolve crisis situations at Variety Care and Northcare as needed.Provides supervision to Advanced Practice Providers (APP) and students as requested.Prepares initial psychiatric evaluation report on prospective patients.
Reviews social, medical, and personal history of patients, interviews patients, and assesses mental status of patients.Defines/documents differential diagnoses and lists differential diagnoses with most likely diagnoses included.Completes all required documentation in electronic medical record according to deadlines/guidelines set forth by payers and leadership.Assists in preventing relapse or morbidity in conditions that tend to recur over time.Utilizes appropriate laboratory tests using prescribed methods and techniques; determines normal and abnormal test results; and develops a health care plan based upon analyzed data.Formulates decisions concerning admission, prescriptive program, and clinical management.Monitors patient's progress and ensures that the patient's needs are met by communicating, advising, and consulting with residential, educational, medical, and other involved staff (outside of team meetings).Determines need for and arranges psychiatric hospitalizations.Attends scheduled clinical team meetings to review and evaluate patient's prescriptive program planning.Communicates with patient and/or agencies, via telephone, correspondence, and conferences to discuss patient progress and problems in therapy, drug-related matters, aftercare planning, etc.Provides consultation to clinical and nursing staff as appropriate to help deal more effectively with the management of assigned patients.Provides Telehealth services from remote locations connected to a reliable internet resource including a provider's home when necessary.Supports Variety Care's pursuit of accreditation as a Patient Centered Medical Home and our commitment to provide care to all Variety patients that is Safe, Effective, Patient Centered, Timely, Efficient, and Equitable.

QualificationsRequirements, Special Skills or Knowledge: MD with OK state license for practice of medicine and OK Board certification in Psychiatry.One year internship.Three years of psychiatric residency.Essential Functions: Must be able to lift 25 pounds.Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.Must have excellent concentration ability.
