About the Department:The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) has as its mission the accumulation, generation, and dissemination of knowledge in Electrical and Computer Engineering. The national and international reputation of the Department facilitates future growth in areas of fundamental economic importance to the State. ECE research portfolio for FY 19-20 was $156M.
Essential Job Duties:The Post Award Specialist is responsible for accounting of research projects. This position ensures compliance with Cost Accounting Standards and Sponsor terms and conditions, assists with Release Time submission, summer salary, and Cost Sharing Management the TEARS Effort Reporting System and Closeouts.
In addition, the Post Award Specialist is also responsible for:
Assisting the Contracts & Grants Manager as needed on a variety of ad hoc projects and tasks.
Attending departmental, college, and/or university meetings to obtain the latest information regarding research related matters.
Administrative tasks include assisting in file management, maintaining desktop manuals and standard operating procedures and other duties as assigned.

Other Responsibilities:General administrative tasks including filing, sharing, combining documents and office support.
Performs a variety of other duties as assigned (and as needed). Assist with providing office support and related administrative functions as needed.
Back-up to the Pre Award Specialist.
Work requires the exercise of considerable judgment to ensure that transactions are in accordance with policies, procedures and regulations.
Minimum Experience/Education:High School Diploma or equivalency and one year of experience in accounting work; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Other Required Qualifications:Proficient with MS Excel and MS Word.
Excellent time management skills and the ability to multi-task in a busy, fast-paced office with frequent deadlines and interruptions.
Must be knowledgeable and have experience in accounting principles and cost accounting standards. Ability to maintain and manage accounting records of moderate variety and complexity, including preparation of financial reports.
Should be able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with individuals of diverse backgrounds and responsibilities.
Preferred Qualifications:PeopleSoft Human Resources and Financials experience, and WRS Systems.
Experience in RADAR and PMR system.
