Planner Engineer

Description

The Planner Engineer is responsible for the oversight, planning, budgeting, and project timing for network growth, modernization, consolidation, and advancement needs in a fiber focused business in alignment with established performance metrics and business strategies. They use various inputs to determine the optimal network distribution solutions based on demand, architecture, funding, and anticipated growth. To determine and implement the best network solutions, the Planner Engineer analyzes current demand, geospatial data, data analytics, and forecasts. This position is responsible for ensuring quality and timely deliveries of our fiber construction estimates. Skilled in network design, engineering, and permitting with an understanding of OSP construction and an understanding of construction costs is essential for success in this role.
Network Planning & Design Analyze network demands using forecasts, consumption data, GIS tools, and market indicators.Determine optimal project architectures balancing customer experience, cost, scalability, and reliability.Develop accurate project cost estimates and support business case development.Drive continuous improvement in network and process designs. Project Coordination & Implementation Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to execute network solutions.Guide vendors and suppliers to meet project goals and timelines.Ensure projects adhere to quality standards and budget constraints. Data Analytics & Forecasting Utilize geospatial and market data to anticipate future growth and network demands.Apply data-driven decision-making to enhance planning accuracy and efficiency. Requirements

5+ years of related experience required. Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or job-related field preferred. Experience with Outside Plant (OSP) architectures consisting of underground, direct buried, aerial, and building applications. Experience with PON architectures including centralized and distributed split, greenfield MDU/SFU, and inside wiring solutions. Understanding of CPE solutions GIS experience with platforms such as M4 and QGIS Understanding of CAD-based drawing systems Proficiency in Google and MS Office tools such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint Database skills which include creation, scripting, and programming (i.e., Microsoft SQL), preferred. Broad network understanding of: Access networks FTTP/FTTN o BBDLC networkEthernet Services Feeder/Distribution facilities Customer Prem solutions MDU/MTU solutions Wireless Transport/Data dependencies  Inter-Relationships: Works directly with the Engineering Managers, GIS Manager, Fiber Optic Network Design Manager, Director of Operations, VP of Network Operations, Sales and Marketing managers, Construction and Splicing managers, Service Delivery Coordinator, and office staff.
