SummaryThe VA North Texas Health Care System is currently recruiting for Psychiatrist(s) to provide mental health care for our Veteran patients needs for the various clinics and specialty areas in Dallas, Ft. Worth, Grand Prairie, Sherman, or Tyler, Texas.
A Recruitment/Relocation Incentive may be authorized to a highly qualified candidate.
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP).

QualificationsTo qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements (if applicable) listed in the job announcement.
Applicants pending the completion of training or license requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.
Currently employed physician(s) in VA who met the requirements for appointment under the previous qualification standard at the time of their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements of the occupation.
Basic Requirements:United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA PolicyEducation: Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicineThe degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completedLicensure and Registration: Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of ColumbiaResidency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certificationPhysical Requirements: See outlined belowEnglish Language ProficiencyPreferred Experience: ABPN Board Certified/Board Eligible in Psychiatry Buprenorphine treatment experience DutiesThis is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT and will remain open for recruitment of Psychiatrists with sub-specialties for Mental Health ServicePsychiatrists - Major duties and responsibilities include: Mental Health Connect: Core responsibilities include providing triage and evaluation services to Veterans new to Mental HealthDuties will include consulting with primary care physicians, providing brief and comprehensive mental health assessments as well as time-limited follow up to Veterans not established in specialty mental healthIncumbent must be skilled in general outpatient psychiatry, including diagnostic evaluations, pharmacotherapy and psychotherapyCompetent in the management of individuals with a broad range of clinical problems, including post-traumatic stress disorder, mood, anxiety and psychotic disorders, substance use disorders and psychiatric disorders in the elderly Veteran populationWork Schedule: Generally Monday - Friday (8:00 am to 4:30 pm) with light on-call responsibilities but varies by work areaFlexible work tours and telework may be available
