An opportunity is anticipated for a self-motivated, hardworking individual to provide visitor services, maintenance, resource management, interpretive, administration, and park protection, to fill an OPS Park Ranger position at Blue Spring State Park located in Orange City, Florida.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
Maintenance -Responsible for janitorial cleaning and maintenance of all park facilities, including restrooms, rental cabins, playgrounds, campsites, office buildings, pavilions, and grills. Constructs, maintains, and repairs small buildings, fences, trails, service roads, fire lanes, boardwalks, campsites, picnic sites, boat ramp, docks, and all other necessary facilities.
Visitor Services?Explains facilities and services provided for public use, enjoyment and education; meets visitors, answers questions, provides information and directions. Attempts to resolve visitor complaints while maintaining good public relations.
Resource Management -Understand importance of ecological burning for fire type plant communities; maintain fire lanes using heavy equipment. Recognize communities and maintain optimum species control via natural and chemical means.
Administration -Prepare forms and reports on a wide range of subjects including fees, honor receipts, daily vehicle usage. Answer telephone, operate personal computer and maintain logs.
Protection -Ensures park rules are enforced pertaining to all natural, historical and archaeological facilities and resources and use thereof for enjoyment of the visitor.
Performs related work as required.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Assist with the maintenance and repair of facilities, buildings, roads, and boardwalks.
Ability to assist in maintaining park grounds.
Ability to lift 40 pounds.

Ability to work outdoors.

Able to work a rotating schedule.

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Ability to work well with others.
Knowledge and skill in computer use and application as it relates to the collection and storage of scientific data.

Ability to develop and maintain files on research, monitoring and other activities.
Ability to maintain a valid driver?s license.
