Name of Position:Full ?Time Registered Nurse position in OB
Hours of Work:7pm to 7am with some rotation.
Requirements:1 year of Med-Surgical or RN experience in an acute care setting- required.Labor and Delivery and /or Mother-Baby experience- preferred
Description of Position:The Registered Nurse, under the supervision of the OB Department Nurse Manager, is responsible and accountable for providing quality nursing care for women during the antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum periods as well as the care of newborns. The Registered Nurse: works collaboratively with the physicians and multidisciplinary team members, utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate individual nursing care needs from admission through discharge, promotes health and well-being with family-centered education and fosters an environment of patient safety by complying with evidence-based standards of practice established for the Labor-Delivery-Postpartum department. Must poses strong desire to work with pregnant women, newborns and their immediate and extended family members. The individual must be conscientious, hard-working and dependable. Possess the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, set priorities, utilize problem-solving techniques, adapt and respond to stressful situations and communicate effectively with patients, family and members of the healthcare team in a dynamic work environment that promotes integrity, commitment, accountability, respect and excellence for every person, every time.
Regulatory Requirements:1. Graduate of accredited school of nursing. 2. Current state Registered Nurse licensure. 3. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification. 4. Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification- required within 6 months of hire. 5. Introduction to Fetal Heart Monitoring (AWHONN) Course- required within 6 months of hire.
Physical:Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Exposure to all patient elements including communicable diseases and bodily fluids (Category 1). Subject to stress and fatigue. Requires manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination for easy and skillful use of hands when working with patients and equipment. Requires ability to lift items weighing up to 50 pounds. Subject to repeated bending, squatting and stooping. Requires corrected vision and hearing within normal range. Requires verbal ability to communicate with patients and hospital staff and form perception to observe pertinent details. Requires ability to work where activities are characterized by frequent change.
Typical Working Conditions:Some exposure to toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to the clinic environment.
