Job Purpose 13; The Bobby R. Alford Department of Otolaryngology:Head and Neck Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a certified medical assistant to provide compassionate care to patients as part of a busy and growing ambulatory practice.

Job Duties 13;
:Performs routine patient care responsibilities such as taking vital signs, venipuncture (blood draws), speciment collection, EKGs/ECGs, and POCTs.
:Collects patient history, performs medication reconciliation and enters information in the electronic medical record.
:Notes the primary complaint/reason for patients visit.
:Sets up instruments and equipment for Physician.
:Assist with procedures as needed.
:Instructs Patients on general care and medical procedures.
:Maintains patient and service rooms in a neat and orderly condition.
:Assist with instrument and equipment cleaning and sterilization.
:Schedules surgery, patient tests, procedures, and appointments.
:Conduct patient outreach phone calls and post visit follow:ups.
:Performs clerical/administrative responsibilities such as filing and/or scanning patient medical records, obtain lab/x:ray reports, hospital notes, and referral information.

Minimum Qualifications 13;
:High school diploma or GED and completion of a Medical Assistant Training program through an accredited institution.
:Two years of relevant experience.
:Current certification as a Medical Assistant through an accredited professional organization (AAMA, AMT, ARMA, NCCT, NAHP, NHA, NAHP, AMCA, or NRMA).

Other 13;

Physical Risks: Potential exposures to blood borne pathogens (blood and /or other potentially infectious materials), drugs, chemicals, radiation, and physical hazards found in patient clinics, hospitals and/or laboratory work environments and in working directly with patients and other employees. Initial Blood borne Pathogens Training is required, and a Blood borne Pathogens Refresher Training must be taken annually.
