Position Overview:

The Product Marketing Manager assumes full responsibility for growing the sales and profitability of a specific category of products in the Metagenics product line. The Product Marketing Manager is the leader in creating, coordinating and executing the strategies and tactics for product development, marketing and sales of the products in the Category. This position is broad in its scope, in that it directs and coordinates the market research, market analysis, planning, scheduling, budgeting, product development, advertising, sales support, PR and communications activities for the product line.

What you'll do:
Develop the strategy for the product line in support of the corporate strategic objectives and marketing strategy
Develop the appropriate tactical plans necessary to execute the product line strategy
Assume total responsibility for the management of the category or product line, including managing market research, marketing analysis, planning, positioning, budgeting, product development, collateral development, advertising, PR, product training and the contribution margin for the product line
Articulate throughout the organization the mission, strategy and purpose of the products and to gather the resources and the necessary support to execute the tactical plans for the product group
Conduct market research on the product group to determine trends, opportunities, create product positioning and pricing, create forecasts, understand the life cycle of the products in the category and develop marketing programs
Work with the sales force to develop competitive product analysis, materials, strategies and marketing programs to help combat the competition
Plan, measure and manage the overall advertising, PR, communications and collateral literature production for the product line
Manage and control the profitability of each product and the aggregate profitability of the products, meeting the profit targets set by Senior Leadership
Assume the responsibility for the creation of new products in the product line, to stay ahead of the competition and provide the customer with the best in health care nutrition
Coordinate with R&D and to offer marketing guidance for product development and product improvements for the products in the group
Execute the marketing plans efficiently; on time and coordinated with new product development, so as to optimize sales of all products and services

What you'll need:

Experience / Training / Education
MBA in Marketing or equivalent experience
5 - 7 years previous product management marketing experience, preferably involving health and wellness products
Project management
Understanding of product development process
Understanding of positioning and pricing
Experience with graphic design, copy writing, advertising, PR, communication, planning and literature production
Training or experience in managing profit centers and budgets
Highly organized

Must have good motivational, communication and presentation skills
Must have strong analytical skills
Demonstrates willingness to collaborate and work well with others - teamwork
Must have good writing skills
To be a “quick study”, able to understand new concepts and product areas quickly

Physical requirements/working conditions:

Sits at a computer station, meeting table or work desk for more than two-thirds of each day
Stands and walks to other stations and departments throughout the day
Uses hands and fingers to operate computers and office equipment most of the day
May stoop or crouch to access files or storage
Requires clear vision at 20 inches or less with or without corrective lenses
Hearing and speech within normal ranges and sufficient for clear communication face to face and especially via the telephone
Lifts up to 10 pounds regularly; lifts 25 pounds occasionally
Exposed to noise levels typical of office environments

Mental and reasoning requirements:

Uses critical thinking skills to work with documents and spreadsheets and interpret information furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Able to review complex documents like contracts and leases. Able to review quantitative and qualitative work and identify questionable items
Expert problem-solving and data-analysis skills
Able to set goals based on available information and to plan work in order to meet deadlines
Able to formulate appropriate responses to requests for data, services and information from internal or external customers with a wide range of personalities and demeanors
