We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Maintenance Operations Manager, Private Residence to oversee the day-to-day operations and maintenance of a prestigious family residence along with three (3) other private residences. This is a hands-on management role that requires an individual with strong technical skills and experience in general maintenance and repairs, in addition to the ability to manage household staff and operations. The Facility Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring that all aspects of the home are running smoothly, efficiently, and to the highest standards.
The Maintenance Operations Manager, Private Residence will take responsibility for managing and maintaining the family's residence(s), directly overseeing the operation of household systems and performing general repairs and maintenance when needed. This role requires a strong technical background in home maintenance, excellent leadership abilities, and the capability to perform hands-on repairs and troubleshooting in addition to overseeing staff and vendors. The ideal candidate will have experience in high-net-worth households, be proactive in identifying and resolving issues, and have a comprehensive understanding of both residential management and facility maintenance.
Key Responsibilities: Residential Operations & Maintenance: Oversee the daily operations of the residence(s), ensuring the homes are clean, organized, and well-maintained to the highest standards.In conjunction with your team, vendors or contractors, perform general maintenance and repairs throughout the property, including minor plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry work.Coordinate, manage, and sometimes directly perform preventative maintenance, essential home repairs and improvements, and special projects as necessary.Create and implement maintenance schedules for all critical systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, etc.) and manage relationships with specialized contractors and vendors for more complex repairs.Ensure the homes are always prepared for the family's return, maintaining an immaculate standard of cleanliness, comfort, and organization. Staff Supervision & Management: Lead and supervise a team of household staff (5-12 individuals), including housekeepers, drivers, gardeners, and other personnel.Develop and manage staff schedules, ensuring there is adequate coverage for all household needs.Conduct regular training sessions and performance evaluations, providing guidance on general household operations and maintenance as well as improving staff skills.Ensure all staff adhere to high standards of service, professionalism, and confidentiality, fostering a positive and productive work environment.Oversee the hiring process for household staff, including job descriptions, conducting interviews, and evaluating candidates to ensure they meet the family's high standards.Manage the onboarding process for new hires, including training, orientation, and integration into the household team. Timekeeping & Hour Approval: Monitor and track staff work hours, ensuring accurate timekeeping and adherence to schedules.Review and approve timesheets, ensuring that all hours worked are properly recorded and in line with payroll policies.Address any discrepancies or issues related to timekeeping, providing necessary adjustments or clarifications as needed. Event & Entertaining Management: Supervise event setup, coordination, and post-event cleanup to ensure everything runs smoothly and the space is presentable.Be hands-on with event preparations, handling any technical or maintenance needs related to event setups. Financial & Budgetary Oversight: Manage the household budget, tracking expenses, overseeing invoices, and ensuring all household-related costs are kept within budgetary guidelines. Security & Confidentiality: Ensure the security of the residence by working closely with the security staff, ensuring protocols are followed, and maintaining strict confidentiality on all family matters.Oversee the operation of security systems, including alarms, surveillance, and access control.Safeguard personal family information with the highest level of discretion and confidentiality. Vendor & Contractor Relations: Manage relationships with household vendors, suppliers, and contractors, ensuring timely delivery and quality of services.Oversee any construction, renovation, or remodeling projects, coordinating with external contractors to ensure the work is completed according to plan and in a timely manner.Occasionally perform light construction or renovation tasks, depending on expertise and project needs. Qualifications & Skills: Experience: Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in household management or facilities management, with specific expertise in home maintenance, repairs, and general construction. Experienced in high-net-worth households is preferred.Education: A college degree or equivalent experience is preferred.Technical Skills: Strong background in residential maintenance and repair, with hands-on knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, basic carpentry, and other general maintenance tasks.Leadership Skills: Exceptional leadership and staff management capabilities, with the ability to direct and motivate a team while maintaining high service standards.Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational abilities and the capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a dynamic environment.Discretion: High level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality when handling family matters and sensitive information.Proactive Mindset: Ability to anticipate the family's needs and proactively address maintenance or operational issues before they arise.
