Maintenance Helper - Mechanic & Oiler

Since 1996 Rummel Construction, Inc. has been a prominent figure in the earthmoving business in Arizona and beyond. We're a Heavy Civil General Contractor that self-performs the majority of our work. We run all our maintenance in-house, with experienced heavy equipment mechanics, helpers, Service Technician - Oilers and more. Who Are you?
You're someone who enjoys working outside, with their hands, and is mechanically inclined. You may have worked in an automotive repair shop, oil change place, or just simply like tinkering with your own vehicles. You're not afraid of getting dirty, working outdoors in all conditions and you learn quickly. Ideally, you'll want to be a mechanic with a truck of your own someday.
What will you be doing?
Maintenance Helpers are assigned to work with an experienced Mechanic or Service Technician (Oiler) and assist them in their daily duties. From grabbing tools, parts, refueling equipment, operating cranes, you're helping us complete repairs and keep our machines up and running. Along the way, you're learning how to troubleshoot and repair heavy equipment and gain new skills.This is a safety-sensitive position, see below for details.
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience working with hand and power tools, whether in a shop or in your home garage is preferred. We're looking for candidates who want to learn the trade firsthand and grow into their own Mechanic or Service truck over time. You must be at least 18 years old. Our projects span the Southwest US and you'll need to be willing to travel as needed to project sites.

Safety Sensitive Position
The ability to perform substantial walking, sitting, squatting, standing, bending, lifting up to 50 lbs and being able to get in and out of equipment safely.
Using a variety of hand tools, power tools, drill presses, grinding machines, welding and flame-cutting equipment and jacks, hoists and cranes.
A Maintenance Helper must be able to repair vehicles and equipment, lift heavy parts and tools, handle greasy and dirty parts, and stand or lie in awkward or strained positions. Every employee is held accountable to perform safely and efficiently.
