Job Description:
The Industry Contracts Coordinator's purpose is to provide service and support to faculty and staff in the development, review and negotiation of contracts, subcontracts or agreements with the sponsoring organization, including daily administrative tasks relating thereto.----

Responsibilities

Prepare, review and negotiate terms of various agreements. Interpret, apply and explain policies and procedures, and federal and state laws as these may relate to sponsored research; review and administratively prepare documentation for proposals, new awards, and modifications; ensure administrative compliance with University policy, state and federal regulations and laws. Review subcontract awards for applicable flow down clauses and coordinate with subcontractors regarding terms.

Outline risks associated with clauses and other considerations that may be relevant for projects. Review awards for financial and compliance risks and outline risks to Associate Director.Be immediately available to and work with sponsors, faculty, staff and other colleagues to prepare approaches and responses to contract, project or proposal issues for submission to industry sponsoring companies and organizations. Ability to proficiently research issues in response to contractual issues.

Personally meet with faculty, staff and representatives of sponsoring organizations to facilitate discussions, conduct outreach and promote and strengthen business relationships; timely follow-up on negotiations of awards and modifications when responses have not been forthcoming from faculty or sponsors. Follow established processes to ensure professional, timely and accurate administration and communications, including documentation for contracts and proposals, and database records.

Promptly respond to, and resolve in a timely manner, inquiries and requests for information or assistance.Address needs and/or interests of sponsors and offer more detailed reference information to faculty and staff members initiating industry contracts and other agreements. Timely enter and maintain data related to award and modification negotiations into database.

Other related functions as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in business, public administration, communications or a related field and 15 years experience or Masters and 10 years of experience, in the negotiation of complex non-procurement contracts and contract negotiations, including drafting language and subsequent negotiation.

Knowledge of intellectual property types and rights.

Ability to work independently.

Individual must pay attention to detail, be accustomed to a fast-paced environment with heavy administrative requirements, heavy volume and many deadlines.

Must provide excellent customer service to a diverse community.

Extensive experience with the use of MS Word software.

Ideal candidate works well with others and contributes positively to the office environment.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Graduate degree, or bachelor degree with certification in contract management or university administration.

More than 10 years’ experience working in a University research administration environment.

More than seven year’s experience developing and negotiating intellectual property terms appropriate to industry sponsored research projects.

Proficiency in analysis, interpretation and evaluation of complex contractual terminology.

Knowledge of state and federal contract regulations.

Experience working in an industry setting negotiating sponsored research projects with large U.S. universities.

Salary Range

$60,000 + depending on qualifications

Working Conditions

The Office of Industry Engagement (OIE) staff will continue to work remotely due to COVID-19 until it is safe to return to campus.
