Job Description:

Joel Gott Wines is seeking an enthusiastic intern for the 2019 harvest season to assist our winemaking team in all aspects of wine and grape analysis. This position involves supporting the winemaking team both in our lab and at our Napa crush facilities. The position will start in August.

Responsibilities include:
* Vineyard sample prep and analysis

* Analyze must and wine samples on Oenofoss

* Oversee initial grape receiving and crushing
* Prepare fermentation samples for tasting

* Monitor fermentations, collect tank samples, check Brix and temperatures

* Distribute samples and products between facilities as needed

* Maintain product inventory for each crush location

* Set up laboratory trials and tastings
* Enter analysis results in winemaking database and Excel spreadsheets
* Maintain a clean and organized work environment

Qualifications:
* Viticulture/Enology classes or Science background preferred
* Previous harvest experience, or familiarity with winemaking practices preferred
* Hard working, ability to follow written and verbal instructions
* Proficient in MS Excel, detail oriented, good observation and analytical skills
* Ability to work flexible long hours and weekends

* Valid drivers license and clean DMV report required

Conditions:
* Long and irregular hours during peak periods
* Daily deadline pressures
* Must comply with all safety equipment requirements
* Exposure to production machinery, chemicals, lab and cellar environments
* Must be able to stand for long hours, lift and carry 50 pounds
