About the Job

Overview
The Groundskeeper provides basic lawn care and ground maintenance for Memorial Medical Center. Care of campus grounds may include: mowing, raking leaves, watering, fertilizing, edging, planting of grass and flowers, trimming, de-thatching lawn, painting as needed and stripping the parking lot. In the winter months, snow removal with a snow plow, shovel, squeegee, snow blower or other approved methods is also expected. Maintaining the external appearance of Memorial Medical Center by cleaning driveways, entrances and disposing of trash is also a responsibility of the Groundskeeper. Safety is key as the Groundskeeper is responsible for pre start-up inspections on power equipment and minor repairs of ground tools as well as transporting materials and equipment to worksites on campus. Interaction with colleagues, patients and visitors will require this individual to also possess superior customer service.

Qualifications
Education:
• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Licensure/Certification/Registry:
• Must possess valid Illinois driver's license and must be deemed as an acceptable driver in accordance with the MHS Fleet Safety Policy (five year MVR will be required).

Experience:
• Minimum 2 years' experience in grounds and lawn maintenance preferred.

Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
• Knowledge of basic operation of lawn and snow removal equipment.
