Required: Skill in prioritizing assignments to complete work in a timely and accurate manner. Skill in performing various bookkeeping transactions such as debiting, crediting, reconciling expenses, preparing transfer of payroll and non-payroll expenses. Ability to analyze problems, assess needs and provide alternatives. Skills in perceiving and defining cause and effect relationships between expenditure rates and budgetary projections. Mathematical skills for the preparation of complex calculations and forecasts and to identify and resolve complex financial problems. Effective oral and written communication skills necessary to make inquiries and convey information. Skill in writing concise, logical and grammatically correct correspondence. Ability to establish and maintain excellent working relationships with faculty, fellows, research nurses and other division staff, hospital, university, clinics and community. Ability to perform a variety of tasks in a timely matter under conditions of fluctuating workloads, competing requirements, and changing deadlines and priorities. Demonstrated ability to operate a computer utilizing MS Outlook, Excel, Word, and Internet Explorer. Reading skills to comprehend University policies and procedures. General knowledge of University Sponsored Research Administration, including pre and post award administration. Demonstrated knowledge of University purchasing, Accounts Payable, payroll, personnel and general accounting policies and procedures. Skill in using University Online Financial System Reports, FPM, and QDB. Ability to utilize web browser for the identification of potential funding sources, grant information and forms.
Preferred: Working knowledge of medical terminology, specifically in Hematology-Oncology, sufficient to recognize and analyze appropriateness of research expenses from clinic, clinical labs, radiology, CRC and other hospital, clinic and University departments. Knowledge of University clinic and hospital policies and procedures. Working knowledge of University clinical research Velos databases. Working knowledge of clinical research billing.

Serve as Fund Manager for the Clinical Trials Unit in the Division of Hematology-Oncology. Manage pre- and post-award for clinical trials. Reconcile monthly ledgers; compile fiscal information to be used to prepare annual budgets, financial reports, and projections utilizing information from University ledgers, Query Database (QDB/FPM), Financial Projection Module and the University online financial reports. Provide guidance to the Principal Investigators for funded projects to assure proper expenditure. Prepare and/or approve purchasing documents, expenditure invoices and other charges. Resolve any accounting problem or irregularities on a timely basis. Review patient billing for clinical trials to ensure accuracy and appropriateness of charges. Assist in the preparation of pre-award budgeting including salary, equipment, supplies and other expenses used in the proposed clinical research.
