Independence, OH! What you will do:

The Finance Intern is responsible for supporting the Controller's organization at the North Division's Business Support Center (BSC). This position allows for a hands-on experience where the individual is able to understand and follow financial trends, as well as apply theoretical knowledge of financial laws and government policies in day-to-day work in the finance department.
This role will work closely with members of the Division Accounting and Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) departments.

Your responsibilities:

- Responsible for month-end procedures, including the preparation and posting of journal entries.
- Completes general ledger account analysis, research and preparation of account reconciliations.
- Assists with the preparation of reports and other information related to internal requests from the Division/Branches as well as Corporate.
- Assists with the preparation of reports to fulfill information requests from external and internal auditors.
- Assist in the investment management process including:
- Ensure capital projects are created timely in SAP
- Preparation of fixed asset retirement and transfer forms
- Assist in the construction in progress (CIP) review
- Assist with the daily product costing process; including the preparation of daily moving average price (MAP) analysis.
- Ensures compliance with the Company's financial policies/procedures.
- Maintains internal accounting controls that are consistent with Company requirements/Sarbanes-Oxley.
- Special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

What you will have:
- Undergraduate majoring in Business Administration, Management, Accounting, Finance, or similar discipline.
- 3rd or 4th year student preferred.
- Proficient in Google Suite, including Gmail, Sheets, and Docs, as well as a demonstrated ability to utilize financial applications within SAP.
- Strong mathematical skills as well as the ability to problem solve and verify data.
- Exhibits customer focused behavior such as building positive relationships and strives to understand customer's needs, both internal and external.
- Ability to collect, evaluate, and interpret data in both statistical and narrative form.
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prepare files and maintain records and documentation.
