The Engineering Business Operations and Planning Director will closely partner with and be a trusted advisor (Chief of Staff) to the Storage and Availability VP of Engineering and their leadership team in HCIBU. The role is responsible for Engineering rhythm of the business, drive Engineering business operations, planning, and communications. The person in this role will be a strong, hands:on leader who will enable the team to execute its strategy by predicting and solving problems proactively, increasing predictability, and driving change in the organization. The individual will have the demonstrated ability to think and act strategically while ensuring successful day:to:day execution at all levels of the organization. The individual be the connective tissue in the organization, and also partner with Finance, HR, recruiting and other Business Operation leaders to ensure smooth operations in the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Business Operations:
Run weekly leadership staff meetings (plan structure, agendas and discussion)
Work with VPEs and HR to execute people initiatives such as D and I, employee engagement, staffing, manager development etc.
Plan leadership off:sites
Coordinate Engineering org goals definition, progress checks and quarterly reporting
Coordinate Engineering Efficiency work
Annual planning and organization point of contact for hiring
Planning and Analysis:
Develop structure for and lead quarterly engineering and product planning
Drive analysis and messaging for the quarterly OKR review process
Partner closely with Finance to manage OpEx budget; including setting headcount targets, tracking quarterly spend and executing to the committed BU level plan for the FY
Lead site strategy analysis and execution in alignment with BU level plan for the FY
Communications and Alignment:
Align strategic and tactical goals with product development objectives
Develop and drive execution of Engineering communications plan to ensure a proactive and timely communication cadence and alignment (examples: plan content for quarterly all:hands, maintain Engineering confluence content, write internal communications, plan innovation event and tech talk series, internal branding initiative, etc.)
Required Experience and Skills
10+ years technical and program management experience
Strongly Preferred prior chief of staff or business operations experience
Excellent analytical, strategic conceptual thinking, strategic planning and execution skills
Strong executive level presence and business judgment. Proven ability to present strategic information to a broad range of audiences
Effective influencing and negotiation skills in an cross functional experience
Strong interest and deep experience in driving change
Energy and passion around making an organization run efficiently
Strong influencing and collaboration skills. Proven ability to influence and collaborate across roles, functions and levels
Excellent verbal, presentation and written communication skills. Active listener.
Balance of strategic and get stuff done approach
Attention to detail and ability to execute against tight timelines
Strong Organizational skills
Bachelors degree required, MBA desirable
