The Energy Manager position will be responsible for providing an array of energy:focused project development, design, analytical, building optimization and reporting services that support Crothall Facilities Managements value proposition at MedStar Health.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.
* Conduct ASHRAE level 1, 2 and 3 energy audits for managed properties. Employ the use of outside consultants where required for subject matter expertise.
* Accurately baseline energy consumption down to the system/load level using instrumentation, existing automation platforms and building modeling tools.
* Use web:based software to track and report on energy consumption and cost over time. Develop standard measurement and reporting processes, templates and improvement targets.
* Develop programs for improvement and perform analysis required to estimate energy savings to pre:determined levels of accuracy using industry:accepted methodologies.
* Generate budgets for all energy efficiency improvements. Involve contractors as necessary.
* Meet requirements for obtaining available 3rd party efficiency incentives.
* Create and implement plans for system retro:commissioning.
* Employ Monitoring:Based Commissioning (MBCx) and Fault Detection Diagnostics (FDD) tools where appropriate to drive operationally:based energy savings.
* Employ industry:standard Measurement and Verification (M and V) protocols to accurately understand and account for variables affecting energy consumption at all sites.
* Be able to assess the environmental impact of all initiatives.
* Generate regular reports and present findings to internal/external customers.
* Maintain project database and library of best practices.

QUALIFICATIONS
* Minimum of seven (7) years experience with progressive levels of responsibility in the performance of detailed energy audits, retro:commissioning, including scope development, analysis and savings measurement and verification (M and V).
* Strong knowledge of a wide variety of central heating, cooling, combined heat and power (CHP) plants and HVAC systems and their optimization.
* Experience in design and operation of complex HVAC systems as applied to healthcare and research environments.
* BSME/BSEE/BSEM with CEM certification. PE license a plus.
* Well:versed in utilizing multiple vendor Building Management System platforms to collect data for analysis. Work with Plant Operations and Maintenance staffs to implement changes to optimize operating sequences.
* Expertise in utilizing industry standard software tools for calculation of baseline operating conditions and estimation of savings associated with energy efficiency strategies. Approaches would include both measure:specific and whole building analysis.
* Proficient in the use of industry:standard energy accounting software tools to track ongoing energy use and accurately account for external variables and building changes to prove energy savings.
* Must possess strong written, verbal, organizational and interpersonal skills.
* Familiarity with applicable design standards for healthcare building systems.
* Experience managing outside consultants to generate successful outcomes.
