Schedule:Full Time; Day Shift 7:00 am to 7:00 pm, including rotating weekends and holidays

Position Requirements:
Certified as EMT, paramedic or CNA with 1~2 yrs. of hospital or pre~hospital patient care experience or acceptance at an accredited medical school or completions of 2~3 years of nursing school clinical rotations or an LPN or
completion of a certified medical assisting program.
Ability to move / lift patients and push carts, etc.
Ability to use keyboard, see computer screen.
Current CPR certification
This position requires completion of the age specific competency
Very heavy lifting: Up to 100 pounds occasionally and/or in excess of 50 pounds frequently and/or in excess of 20 pounds constantly. May experience unpleasant odors, exposures to blood~borne, air~borne pathogens, and opportunistic pathogens.
High level of stress due to unpredictable patient volumes and degree of critical services needed.
If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case~by~case basis.
Purpose:
The purpose of this position is to assist and support the nursing and medical staff of the Emergency Department, to perform patient care, and environmental tasks, and manage supplies and equipment to ensure the customer~focused, cost~effective operation of the department.
Accountabilities:
Perform patient care as directed by nursing or medical staff, documenting on the medical record. Achieve and maintain patient care competencies as determined by Emergency Department management. Rounds on Patients following AIDET standards and follows customer service standards in Patient interactions.
Performs Phlebotomy, Performs ED point of care testing. Collects and labels speciments according to policy. Perform point of care Q.C. checks and testing according to Policy and Procedure
Ensure an adequate supply of equipment needed for patient care including that patient care areas, storage rooms, and equipment are clean and maintained.
Proficient in sitter function. Under the direction of the RN assists with Restraints and documents appropriately on Patients Medical Record.
Works as Greeter and may participate in secretarial functions including answering phones and places calls as needed.

Report patient safety events and near misses in timely fashion

Promote culture of safety through identifying threats to patient safety and intervening to prevent patient harm

ADDENDUM TO JOB DESCRIPTION RELATED TO ED COMPETENCIES
Achieve and maintain patient care competencies as determined by Emergency Department management. Competencies include:
Performs accuchecks, urine dipsticks, and rapid strep point of care testing
GREETER ROLE
Ensure that the first contact for patients entering the Emergency Department is prompt and friendly.
1. Greets and welcomes patients and visitors entering the Emergency Department entrance
2. Ascertains severity level of patients condition and notifies charge/ triage nurse of any critically ill patients.
3. Maintains the appearance of the reception area.
4. Communicates with patients and visitors regarding their delays.
5. Assists patients who need help getting in and out of their cars.
