The Queens County District Attorney s Office (QDA) is seeking a Director of Analytics who will oversee QDA s Information Services Bureau s analytical team that serves an office of over 700 staff. The Director of Analytics will supervise the creation and analysis of data sets pertaining to the prosecution of crimes. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

Developing expertise in the QDA data model

Developing data dictionaries and best practices for data definitions and use

Identifying best software tools to effectively analyze data

Supervising analytical staff in the development of quick ad-hoc reporting and also providing methodological oversite for larger analytical projects

Communicating with management staff to determine the best indicators of efficacy

Supervising the development of reports, dashboards etc. for management staff to quickly identify changing patterns

Coordinating with programming staff for the creation of analytical data sets

Working closely with software application analysts and developers to ensure that necessary data is available for analytical purposes

Performing related tasks as assigned


A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field and 5 years of progressively more responsible, full-time experience, including two years in Criminal Justice or a related field; or the equivalent education and experience.

Strong knowledge and experience with a wide range of tools and IT technologies and criminal justice processing, particularly the prosecution stage, is required as well as two years of experience with programs such as R, SPSS and Crystal Reports.

Must also have the following skills:

Ability to research and learn tools, hardware, and languages quickly

Ability to work independently and manage multiple long-term projects

Strong attention to detail and high concern for data accuracy

Ability to interact and effectively communicate with all levels of staff, with a high regard for confidentiality

Ability to work efficiently to meet deadlines

Work collaboratively and cooperatively with staff in a team-oriented environment

Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, prioritize competing needs and respond quickly to requests for information

A master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field from an accredited college or university is preferred, as well as knowledge and experience with business intelligence tools such as Tableau and Sisense.

For current City employees, a permanent civil service title is highly desired.
