POSITION SUMMARY:Works under the direct supervision of the Director of Dietary Services to provide overall service to the residents of Liberty House (assisted living facility) and The Vista (health care center). Performs table service duties for the dining rooms to include, but not limited to, food selection, delivery of food and beverages, and table resetting. Adheres to and complies with established Air Force Village, Sodexo, and applicable regulatory agencies policy standard practices and procedures. Incumbent must provide outstanding customer service in a friendly manner. Ability to identify issues of concern and report them to Supervisor as needed for follow-up and to ensure customer satisfaction, as well as customer and employee safety.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:Will be expected to assume heavy workloads with a great deal of time spent on their feet. Some heavy lifting is required, as well as pushing and pulling. Incumbent must act in a positive and pleasing manner in all customer contact areas. Must be able to speak, read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions in English. Possess the ability to record customer orders and do simple math calculations, and must be able to solve problems quickly.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Required:High school diploma or equivalent.Preferred:Prior food service experience is a plus.

EQUIPMENT AND COMPUTER OPERATIONS:A working knowledge of the various equipment used in a commercial kitchen and dining areas, to include: coffee urn, iced tea machine, and dishwasher is desired. Training will be provided to familiarize incumbent with related equipment to ensure safety and proper operation during use.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS:Ongoing education related to food service operations is encouraged.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serves modified and regular diets as prescribed by the physician and under supervision of the Director of Dietary Services, in accordance with written menus.
Assembles patient trays according to marked menu and diet.
Follows instructions to assure that residents are provided quality meals, snacks, and nourishments.
Assembles, labels, and delivers patient meals, snacks, nourishments, and floor stocks.
Picks up menus and collects trays from patient rooms.
Documents any problems encountered and reports them to Supervisor.
Logs all supplies and nourishments sent to Liberty House and The Vista.
Responsible for resident charging of each meal count and proper recording of same.
Ensures that substitutions made on any menu are as nutritionally adequate as the item substituted for.
Works in dish room, as needed, scraping trays, loading and unloading dishwasher, and sorting silverware.
Maintains a safe and sanitary environment in the kitchen and Liberty House and The Vista dining rooms and cleans assigned areas following established cleaning procedures and schedules; equipment and areas to be cleaned may include, but are not limited to, steam tables, carts, refrigerators, and tables.
Stocks work station with food and non-food supplies such as diet kits, china, and lids.
Delivers food carts where needed.
Assures accurate temperature of all foods and completes temperature logs.
Maintains temperature logs on refrigeration units.
Attends department meetings and in-service programs, as required.
Follows department safety and sanitation procedures.
Answers telephone and records patient information.
Assists in training new employees.
Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

INTERNAL CONTROL:Within the scope of position duties, responsible for seeing that operations are effective and efficient, assets are safeguarded, and applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures are complied with. This position will handle confidential information and must treat such with appropriate sensitivity.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:Job duties are very rigorous and physical demands are high at times. Must be able to stand and walk 6 to 7 hours daily, and lift 20 to 50 pounds three to five hours daily. Push and pull up to 100 pounds three to five hours daily. Bending, squatting, and reaching are necessary as well as mobility for frequent maneuvering in and between work areas.Training will be provided regarding proper lifting and bending techniques. Exposure to heat, fumes, and odors in food preparation and service areas is likely. There are few environmental hazards present, although the threat of communicable disease exists. Mild cleaning products, waxes, and soaps are used in the immediate areas. Mild pesticides are used periodically to control bug infestation. .

WORK SCHEDULE:Core work hours are varied.Rotating days and shifts may be required including weekends, and holidays. Special events or assignments may require working additional hours to include evenings, weekends, and holidays.

WORK LOCATION:Most work will take place at the Liberty House and The Vista food preparation and service areas.

ATTIRE AND DRESS CODE:Uniform required as specified by department. Village employee ID badge or name tag must be worn at all times while on duty. Closed-toe, slip-resistant shoes are required. Use and wear of safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) required when using chemicals, or as directed. Training will be provided to ensure safety and proper wear of PPE during use. RANGE OF PAY:Dependent upon qualifications and experience, with the intent to be competitive within the market.
