Development SpecialistAdministration Development Director
$38,000-$40,000 annually full-time, exempt
Reporting to the Development Director, the Development Specialist is responsible for creating, implementing, and managing fund development and communications strategies to help the organization achieve its fundraising goals, inspire committed supporters, and increase community engagement in our mission. The Development Specialist works closely with program and administrative staff, volunteers and board members.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Fund development (40%):
Lead execution of key components of agency's annual development plan that outlines cultivation, solicitation, stewardship and acknowledgment activities and goals related to individual, corporate, faith-based, and foundation giving as well as special events.
Manage the organization?s donor experience. Ensure that donors and business sponsors are tracked and thanked in an appropriate, accurate and timely manner.
Manage the agency's donor database, becoming an expert on how to utilize its full functionality.
Responsible for all reporting, gift entry, and acknowledgments.
Grow long-term relationships with donors, corporate partners and sponsors, and stakeholders. This may include face-to-face meetings, networking, and/or attending community events.
Assist with planning and implementation of Annual Fund, including producing and distributing updates and reports and coordinating meetings.
Produce donor lists for mailings, special events, donor recognition, and other purposes as needed.
Write grants and compile data for grant reports. Conduct prospect research for new grantors.
Oversee fundraising event logistics and support all event and special activities, including our annual Battle of the Bags cornhole tournament and Cheers! Dinner.
Manage third-party event fundraisers.
Ensure that identified follow-up activities, such as data entry, thank you notes, invoices and payments are completed appropriately and on time.
Organize and participate in meetings & events to ensure effective event coordination.
Develop, implement and evaluate an annual communications plan that outlines the goals and digital and print strategies that increase the community?s awareness and engagement.
Create digital and printed materials used to communicate with prospective and existing donors, community partners, and stakeholders.
Manage printing and mailing processes for all donor communication and marketing efforts.
Lead social media and e-newsletter efforts for agency.
Ensure that Haven House?s website is kept updated.
Completes all required trainings.
Participates in agency outreach and fundraising events.
Demonstrates a willingness to assist in other agency programs as needed.
Acts as a custodian and demonstrates responsible and ethical use of agency property and facilities.
Displays sensitivity to the service population?s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
Strives to embody the agency?s Code of Ethics while working towards the agency?s Mission.

Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's Degree and at least two years of paid, professional experience in fund development and special event planning with a nonprofit organization.
Experience with a wide spectrum of resource development strategies including individual giving, special events, planned giving, corporate and foundation giving.
Experience developing online and printed materials.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and presentation skills.
Ideal candidate is responsible, hardworking, and 100% comfortable with picking up the phone to engage with current or prospective supporters.
High level of problem-solving skills, independent decision making, and demonstrated ability to manage large amounts of complex and detailed information accurately and efficiently.
Knowledge and experience with resource development database applications.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and generally tech-savvy.
Experience with Adobe Suite design programs (InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop)
Experience with online newsletter applications (ex. MailChimp).
Experience with managing websites, preferably using WordPress.
Video production and editing skills a plus.
Physical Demands/Working Conditions:
Occasional evening and weekend hours required
Willingness to utilize personal vehicle when agency vehicles are unavailable
Potential exposure to bloodborne and/or airborne pathogens
Valid North Carolina Driver?s License and satisfactory driving record
Acceptable background report
Negative drug screen results
Proof of current/valid proof of car insurance
