The Opportunity:
You can make a real difference in the lives of at-risk youth when you join the dedicated team at Echo Glen Children's Center. We need your motivation and engagement to provide campus-wide security and safety services for residents, staff and visitors in a secure juvenile rehabilitation institution. You will learn about the Rehabilitation Administration philosophy and treatment model which prepares you for career advancement opportunities as you support rehabilitative programming for youth.
Salary:$3,052 - $3,964 monthly, plus 5% premium pay for employees working in King County.
Some of what you will do:
Assist with forensic UA, DNA and fingerprinting collection.
Assist with searches and inventory of packages, contraband and personal items the resident brings to the facility. Assist with the security and intake of visitors to the facility.
Assist with monitoring of youth in the health center, on campus or during special visits.
Conduct perimeter checks of doors, vehicles, equipment and grounds.
Remain calm and in control during crisis/dangerous situations and intervene to de-escalate using JR approved methods and techniques as necessary: to restore order.
Engage, motivate, coach, validate/reinforce, and redirect youth toward targeted behavior change.
Maintain security of the physical plant, Health Center, social services and the campus.
Request repairs and maintenance, and monitor supplies, order supplies, inventory and stock supplies.
Request repairs for equipment as needed and keep supervisor informed of health center, social services and facility status.
Assist with general cleaning of the health center, social services areas and other necessary housekeeping.
Provide security and administrative support in the implementation of the ITM treatment model and the implementation of National Standards for Juvenile Facilities.
Distribute medication to youth and monitor to assure medications are taken properly.
Monitor behavior of residents and track negative and/or positive behaviors.
What we're looking for:
Professionals who have a high school diploma or GED equivalent, a valid driver's license AND one of the following:
One year of experience in the areas of work such as:social services, youth group activities, security guard, correctional officer, police officer, police reserve officer, military police, or other law enforcement work
A certificate of completion in a basic law enforcement training program approved by the Washington Criminal Justice Training Commission.
A certificate of completion in a police or reserve police academy or military training program
NOTE:Two years of college from an accredited institution will substitute for the required one year of experience.
In addition to those required qualifications, our ideal applicant will also have some or all of the following:
Demonstrated understanding of adolescent development and juvenile rehabilitation practices and principles.
Demonstrated competency in relating to clients from diverse backgrounds and cultural groups.

This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement.
