Full-Time Corporate EHS & Sustainability Manager,
61 Barnes Industrial Park North, Wallingford, CT 06492
Full-Time Shift(s): Monday-Friday 8am-5pm
OVERVIEW:
Working as Full-Time Corporate EHS & Sustainability Manager, you will manage the environmental, health, safety and sustainability related functions within the region. This will include driving continuous improvement of the company¿s safety and sustainability culture by providing strategy, leadership, and subject matter expertise. The position is responsible for managing, developing, and implementing programs to ensure management participation of proactive practices that utilize prevention and mitigation techniques.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
o Ensuring compliance with all Federal, State, and local health and safety regulations
o Ensuring continuous improvement of Fastenal¿s safety culture and reduction of accidental loss impact on the operational goals for the company
o Consulting with leadership to determine and accomplish company objectives utilizing a variety of programs and processes across business units
o Implementing and sustaining participation in behavior based safety programs
o Performing hazard analysis, audits, inspections, and accident investigations to determine root cause while ensuring corrective actions are implemented
o Analyzing, developing, and tracking metrics and key leading indicators to produce results and meet strategic goals
o Implementing and influencing management participation in ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems and ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems
o Coaching team members on best practices and monitoring performance metrics to ensure consistent program participation
o Serving as the governmental liaison between local and regional government agencies for permitting, inspections, reporting and investigations
o Continuously improving our Security and Emergency Response and Hazardous Materials compliance programs
REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
The following skills and qualifications are required for this position:
o Possess 3 years of Environmental, Health & Safety work related experience
o Possess 3 years of Fastenal leadership experience
o A valid driver's license and the ability to meet our driving record requirements
o Excellent oral and written communication skills
o Proficient at using Microsoft Office Suite
o Demonstrate knowledge of occupational safety and general industry regulations or standards
o Highly motivated, self-directed, and customer service oriented
o Ability to motivate and lead a large group of employees
o Demonstrate strong organization, planning, and prioritizing abilities
o Ability to learn and perform multiple tasks in a fast paced environment
o Willingness and ability to travel while working a flexible schedule
o Demonstrate our core values of ambition, innovation, integrity and teamwork
o Ability to lift, slide and lower packages that typically weigh 25lbs-50lbs and may weigh up to 75lbs
o Ability to pass the required drug screen (applicable in the US, Puerto Rico, and Guam ONLY)
PREFERRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
o Prior work experience or education in OSHA, EPA, safety, operations, sustainability, communications, environmental compliance, risk management, business or a related field
o Possess a certification or have prior industry training (i.e. OSHA 30hr, Certified Safety Professional, Qualified Environmental Professional, and Risk Management Certification)
o Prior experience with lean principles or ISO programs
o Previous experience with managing safety/environmental programs across several locations and business units
