The Certified Medical Assistant II works alongside Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers to provide direct patient care according to state and federal guidelines.
This position plays an important role in the ambulatory setting by not only performing clinical and administrative duties but also helping patients feel at ease and understanding provider instructions.

Provides direct patient care by taking vitals, patient history, venipuncture, lab, x-ray, referrals, and patient phone messages as directed by the provider and/or clinical supervisor.Adheres to National Patient Safety Goals as appropriate based on the level of patient contact this position requires.Contributes to the assessment/re-assessment of patients.Monitors and documents patient status.Organizes workflow to meet patient needs in a timely manner.May retrieve and transport medications, instruments and supplies.Moderate exposure to hazardous risks, including potential for exposure to infections and communicable diseases, blood and body fluids, electrical equipment, chemicals.Must follow standard precautions.Responsible for stocking exam rooms, taking inventory, and ordering supplies.Makes scheduling arrangements with other healthcare professionals and facilities.Assists with procedures, maintaining sterile field and specimen labeling when necessary.Gathers and documents information about patient condition, which includes lab values, pain levels, patient education needs, nutritional status and potential complications.Performs cleaning, sterilization and/or high-level disinfection of scopes, probes, instruments and equipment according to manufacturer instructions for use.Participates in the development of the plan of care, including implementation and evaluation of appropriate patient care interventions which may include oral, intramuscular, intradermal, and subcutaneous medication administration (exclusive of narcotics) as directed by a physician or physician assistant.Reinforces patient education about medications, post-surgical care, special diets, and changes in treatment plans.Transmits prescription refills as directed.Arranges for hospital admissions and patient care services.May precept new medical assistants.Participates in daily compliance audits, chart checks, and reporting safety events.Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program preferred.
Experience: 3-5 years of experience in Patient Care as a Medical Assistant or similar patient care role required.
License/Certification/Registration: Basic Life Support (American Heart Association) certification required upon hire.
