Position DescriptionPRIMARY PURPOSE:
Reporting to the Chair of the Preventative and Restorative Dentistry Department, faculty at Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry, University of the Pacific, engage in teaching in various formats, including didactic, simulation, and clinical activities, scholarship, research, and service.
The successful candidate will oversee didactic, simulated, and clinical student learning experiences in the discipline and engage in all the activities listed above.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Teaching:
Deliver lectures, seminars, preclinical simulation laboratory teaching, clinical teaching, and computer-based individualized instruction to support the Preventive and Restorative Department's pre-clinical and clinical courses.Curriculum Design and Course Directorship:
Become a course director, design, lead, and manage courses; contribute to curriculum design including integration with various Helix strands; utilize outcomes assessment to improve curricular content and presentation.Patient Care:
Work in the Dugoni School of Dentistry clinics supervising student care of patients in all aspects of Restorative Dentistry and Prosthodontics.Research/Scholarship:
Build research endeavors, demonstrate effort in scholarly publications, and engage in laboratory and/or clinical research projects.Collaboration and Service:
Engage in other school, university, professional, and community service opportunities.Minimum QualificationsKnowledge of: Dental school educational processes.Modern Prosthodontic and Restorative techniques.Dental materials and emerging digital applications to clinical restorative treatment.Ability to: Produce professional written reports and correspondence.Experience: Experience in all Restorative and Prosthodontic clinical procedures.Minimum three years of clinical/educational experience.Substantial experience in Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics, implant dentistry, and digital technology.Education: DDS / DMD or international equivalent.Board certified/board eligible in Prosthodontics in California (preferred).Valid CPR certification.Licenses: Hold or be eligible for a California Dental License.Preferred QualificationsAbility to: Communicate effectively with a diverse population.Work independently and in a group setting.Experience: Minimum five years' experience in dental private practice.Experience teaching in a dental school desired.Other: Experience and sensitivity in working with diverse backgrounds.Hiring RangeHiring Range: $160,000 - $170,000 per year.
