Description

SAIC is seeking Cable Maintenance Technicians to support installation, operations, maintenance, repairs, and modification of equipment in support of the Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Station (CMAFS) Cable Installation and Maintenance Work Center, by performing a variety of maintenance and technical support on products, such as equipment, integrated systems, and subsystems, and software at customer and field locations 24/7.
The NISSC II effort establishes requirements for OM&S that support classified communications and processing for Command and Control (C2) capability in organizational work centers at Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Station (CMAFS), Peterson Air Force Base (PAFB), Colorado; Offutt AFB (OAFB), Nebraska; Vandenberg AFB (VAFB), California; and other sites, worldwide.
This specific position will have a place of performance in Colorado Springs.

Responsibilities:

As a member of the Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Station (CMAFS) Cable Installation and Maintenance Work Center, the selected candidate will:

Install, operate, maintain, repair and modify equipment
Perform a variety of maintenance and technical support on products, such as cabling and infrastructure conveyance
Analyze and evaluate products and related performance
Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions to eliminate problem in minimum time
Install upgrades and remove replaced products, ensuring coordinative engineering field change
Maintain effective customer communications and relations
May provide onsite training of customer support personnel

Qualifications

Technical Skills and Background Experience Requirements:

The candidate must have the following background experience and ability to perform the following technical skills:

Install and maintain underground, buried, and aerial copper core and fiber-optic cables supporting systems for command, control, communications, and computers
Plan, maintain and install all cable and communication conveyance systems
Process formal customer requests and develop technical solutions
Maintain cable installation records and schematics using Government provided database
Perform configuration control for all communications cables and conveyances for Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Station (CMAFS)
Focal point for any/all questions concerning authorized access to the CMAFS bellows; maintains access list, log all information on the master station log, alarm/de-alarm and maintain combinations
Resolve project installation and maintenance problems by interpreting project sketches, drawings, project directives, diagrams, and Technical Orders (TOs)
Follow WOMS/EWOMS project installation and maintenance actions and repair procedures
Conduct system test to assess cable capabilities and serviceability
Install, inspect, and evaluate cable installation, and maintenance actions
Evaluate inspection reports and analyzes survey and test results
Process Civil Engineer work clearance requests; locate mark and record underground 21 CS Communication cables
Operate and maintain special tools, test equipment, auxiliary equipment, and special vehicles
Troubleshoot, repair, and replace fiber optic, transceivers, mux, and modems- Schedule and assist with maintenance of underground, buried, and aerial copper core and fiber-optic cables supporting systems for command, control, communications, and computers
Operate forklift, Kubota and other government provided vehicles during day-to-day activities
Work Mon-Fri, 8-5; however, position may require occasional after hours or weekend coverage to support emergency break/fix or natural disaster events
Able to perform team lead duties, when needed
Able to install horizontal and vertical copper and fiber cables, as required
Able to install conveyance above and below the base communications grid, as required
Climb/crawl through confined spaces, as required
Responsible for cabling support of the Air, Missile, and Space warning missions
Update drawings and process remedy tickets, Cyberspace Infrastructure Planning Systems (CIPs), Work Order Management (WOMS/EWOMS), Indoor/Outdoor maintenance, and Civil Engineer (CE) work requests
Perform additional duty responsibilities as assigned
Possess an active DoD TS/SCI clearance
Bachelors and two (2) years or more experience; Masters and 0 years related experience; or relevant experience in lieu of a degree
3-5 years of experience in the telephone maintenance communications or electronics field
Understanding of Communications infrastructure, circuit signaling and cryptographic equipment.
