Job Description
The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), located at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in Golden, Colorado is the nation's primary laboratory for research and development of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies.
The National Renewable Energy Laboratory is searching for an Administrative Assistant to provide high-level administrative support within the Biosciences Center.
Within the Biosciences Center, our people seek to understand, predict, and gain control over biochemical and biophysical pathways and processes in living organisms and biohybrid systems. Reengineering matter and energy flows, from molecular to multicellular and organismal scales, is fundamental for both technology innovation and disruption that enables macroscale production of fuels, chemicals and materials.
The successful candidate will also support other Business Support team members in their absence and on as-needed basis.
This position can be fast paced and dynamic. Excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal and multi-tasking skills, with five or more years administrative assistant experience, providing support at the manager level and to their staff are critical to successfully executing the duties of the job.
This is a very customer-oriented position, and you may be asked by internal staff to assist with a variety of tasks, not limited to the job duties described below.
The successful candidate must be able to work with a wide variety of day-to-day issues and work styles.
Duties include but are not limited to;
Line manager calendar maintenance
Purchase card ordering and reconciliation
Meeting and event planning and scheduling, including coordination and logistics for on-site and potentially off-site meetings as well as webinars
New Employee on boarding
Interfacing with outside entities and individuals including subcontractors, vendors, speakers, and others as needed.
Processing work orders, move forms
Working in numerous online administrative tools
Coordinating foreign and domestic travel including submitting requests, tracking approvals, reserving airfare, lodging, and rental cars, and processing expense reports
Purchase orders, requisitions and invoice processing
Coordinate lab inspections, take notes and submit findings in Inspection Tracker
Composing presentations
Assisting with publication preparation and documentation
Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent and 4 or more years of experience or equivalent related education/experience. Or, related Associate's Degree or certification program of comparable scope and 2 or more years of experience or equivalent related education/experience..
Additional Required Qualifications
Considerable knowledge of specialized focused business support functions.
Complete understanding of the general and detailed aspects of the business support activities, and their practical applications to problems and situations ordinarily encountered
Experienced skills in applicable software packages and office equipment
Demonstrated project administration skills
Full knowledge of specific principles, procedures and practices related to supported fields and disciplines
Strong written and verbal communication skills, team and interpersonal skills

Annual Salary Range (based on full-time 40 hours per week)
Annual Salary Range: $45,700 - $73,000
Offers will typically be made in the bottom half of the listed range. NREL takes into consideration a candidate’s education, training, and experience, as well as the position's work location, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value, including seniority and merit systems, and internal pay alignment when determining the salary level for potential new employees. In compliance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, a potential new employee’s salary history will not be used in compensation decisions.
