As a border patrol agent, you'll work to support economic stability and ensure the safety of our country.

Key Responsibilities

Question individuals and inspect documents and property
Apprehend undocumented individuals or smugglers using covert surveillance and infrared scopes
Track and interpret signs of illegal entry
Perform farm, traffic, building, city, and transport checks
Patrol using vehicles, horses, boats, ATVs, snowmobiles, or motorcycles
Requirements

Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen
Residency: Must have lived primarily in the U.S. for 3 of the last 5 years
Age: Must be referred before turning 40 (exceptions for federal or veteran law enforcement)
Veterans: May qualify under Veterans' Recruitment Appointment (VRA)
Training and Benefits

After hiring, agents attend the U.S. Border Patrol Academy in Artesia, NM for 6 months of instruction in immigration law, firearms, defensive tactics, Spanish, and more.
