Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the Bonding Mill operator is key in assisting with meeting the department?s goals by performing machine set-up, maintaining quality standards, meeting daily production targets, and troubleshooting equipment when required.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The Bonding Mill Operator is responsible for coil handling which involves removing coils from skids, loading coals to the payoff, and measuring gauge and width if the material with measuring devices.

This position sets up the designated Bonding Mill including interpreting process sheets, setting machine parameters, and using lubrication.

The Operator adjust and corrects machine set-ups to reduce thicknesses, reshape products, and eliminate product defects.

This position is also responsible for operating the machine while adhering to quality parameters and in-process checks

The Bonding Mill Operators monitor machine cycles and mill operation to detect jamming and to ensure that products conform to specifications.

The Operator examines, inspects, and measures raw materials and finished products to verify conformance to specifications.

The Operator reads Bonding Mill orders, blueprints, and mill schedule to determine setup specifications, work sequences, product dimensions, and installation procedures.

The Operator manipulates controls and observes dial indicators in order to monitor, adjust and regulate speeds of machine mechanisms.

The Operator sets distance points between rolls, guides, meters, and stops, according to specifications.

The Operator threads or feeds sheets through rolling mechanisms or starts and controls mechanisms that automatically feeds steel into rollers.

Performs data entry into the SAP software system


At least 2-3 years of previous manufacturing experience required

Experience with performing multiple complex set ups.

High school diploma or equivalent

Technical training is preferred but not required

Experience in a metals industrial setting preferred

Experience in use of precision measurement tools and instruments.

Previous bonding mill machine operating preferred

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret reports, manuals, technical procedures
